Be brutally honest...are there really any signature dining restaurants worth giving up another night's table service for? DH and I were discussing and he just can't see that it would be worth it...

Thanks.

We thought that the California Grill at the CR and the Yachtsman Steakhouse at the YC were definitely worth the 2 TS. In fact, we have them booked for this September! They both have great food and the atmosphere is just wonderful. It is nice to have an open day for just CS so there is no rushing around to get to your TS.

All of them. We are doing the dining plan next time because we are travelling with friends, but I prefer the DDE and just dining at signature places. Ordinary table service dining at WDW is ok, signature dining is pretty good (and, in a few cases, has been excellent).

(We were disappointed in our last trip to Narcoossee's, but on a previous trip it had been our favorite.)

Citricos - We had the best meal ever at WDW here last may. I made my parents use 2 Table credits for it a few weeks back and they totally agreed that it was worth it. We're all planning on going again in Dec when we go back to WDW. We're planning to pay out of pocket for the princess breakfast and breakfast at O'hanas so we can use credits for this dinner. I highly recommend yall try it.

You'd need to look at the menus on allears and decide if you'd order foods that would justify the expense of using 4 TS credits for the 2 of you. Basically, if your total bill (before tax and tip) $88 for the 2 of you then you'd be at the "break-even" point on the DDP for using the credits. (assuming the "value" of the 4 cs credits and 4 snack credits would be about $48) I'd imagine that's VERY easy to do at nearly every single signature dining restaurant.

If you WANT to eat at a signature dining restaurant then it's a great value. Look at the DDP in terms of the trip vs a day to day value. Did you get your value from it at the end of the trip?? Did you enjoy nice meals? Did you have fun? Did you try new things that you'd have never tried without the DDP? Then it was "worth" it!!!! :)

you also have to consider what a one table credit could be worth!!!
example for 1 ts credit at lets say coral reef or lecellier could be worth up to 60 bucks each without tip and tax!!

I definitely think that Citricos and California Grill are worth it. We love those places. The only other Signature we've tried was Hollywood Brown Derby. It was good, but I wouldn't go back. It's a been there, done that situation. I'd much rather return to the others I mentioned or try Narcoossee's.

I totally agree that Citricos would be well worth it - we had the best Disney meal there on Christmas Day. My kids have decided we just have to go back there on every trip :thumbsup2

I ate at YSH, CG, Narcoose's and Jiko my last visit. I thought that Jiko was the best meal I have ever eaten. I am staying at AKL for 3 nights and I am considering eating there 2 nights, one on DDP and one OOP. I really loved the tenderloin and mac and cheese but I really want to try the short ribs also. YSH was good but I don't think I would make a special trip to go there and use 2 credits. Narcoose's was good and I love lobster so I think it is worth 2 credit. I really enjoyed CG but I had the pork tenderloin and it was really good but it was only about $24.00 so when I go again I will pay OOP I don't think it is worth 2 credits unless your entree is expensive.I am really looking forward to trying Citricos on my next trip. The way I determine how I use my credits is to look at the menus and find what/where I really want to eat and if it is a signature restaurant I think the meal needs to cost at least $60-$70. As far as regular TS restaurants go I personally would never use a TS credit for a buffet. When I eat at Boma I will pay OOP. I know I will pay OOP for a few meals but I want to eat at a few signature restaurants so I will pay for cheaper meals but I will probably have some of the best food I have ever eaten for 9 days.Sorry to ramble hope some of this helps.:)

I have looked over the menus on allears pretty extensively... I know I'd love the lobster at Narcoossee's, but not sure about everyone else in our group. :grouphug: Actually, there will be 5 of us including DS15, DS13, DD10. Knowing that, would you do the SD with kids...even older ones like mine?

Our other ADRs are (all dinners):

50s Prime Time
Concourse Steakhouse
Le Cellier (we've been trying for 3 years to get this one!)
Teppanyaki
Ohana
San Angel Inn
Chefs de France
Coral Reef

THANKS BUNCHES FOR ALL YOUR INPUT!!

I wouldn't take my kids ;) That's a lot of credits! LOL But if your 3 can handle being in the room without killing each other for a couple hours while you go for a late dinner with your husband, I'd do that in a heartbeat! Make a late ADR (8:30-9pm) at a signature dining restaurant wear the kids out all day, feed 'em counter service at the resort and send them to the room before heading out to your dinner. If you can trust the kids to stay in the room and watch TV/go to bed early, I'd do that.

Aside from that, you got some wonderful ADRs. If everyone is happy with what you've chosen, go on your trip and enjoy yourself! If everyone wants to go to signature dining, pick a restaurant you'll all love and cut out 2 others... if I had to choose, I'd dump San Angel and Teppanyaki- we have mexican all the time and we can go to Japanese steakhouses at home.... But it's up to your family! The value in the DDP is partially in the $$ savings and partially in the enjoyment factor! :cloud9:

ETA: are you visiting during free dining???? If so and you- MOM- have your heart set on trying out signature dining, then tell the family that it is what you are doing....the "cash" value of the dining plan credits is much more vague during free dining, IMO! LOL You want lobster!??!! Then book your dream ADR! Your family will deal with it and may end up having that be their favorite meal of the week!!!

Can't get comfortable with that after hearing about that little girl who was taken from her parents in Portugal. :sad1: My kids are older, but I am just too protective. :( :scared:

I would love to skip it, but my hubby and kids think we HAVE to dine under the fiery volcano EVERY trip. We all love Mex food and really enjoyed our dinners there last year. I would go for something different, but they think "why mess with a good thing?" :rolleyes1

and Teppanyaki-
Yep, I could probably live without this one, but even at home a Japanese steakhouse can be pretty expensive for 5. So, we'll probably keep it.

Yep, did FDDP last Sept. and family couldn't wait for the offer to come out again for 2007. It did and we jumped. :yay: Made most of ADRs the first week. Since then we've done some shifting of ADRs because DMIL and DFIL are coming for a few days. We'll be there 10 nights  so I still have a couple ADRs left to make.

THANKS SO MUCH for the input!

We did 2 on our last trip. I don't think Yachtsman was worth it - and it was a shame because it was my 40th birthday.
I do think Flying Fish was worth it. Everything that the 5 of us ordered was fantastic.

I wouldn't hesitate for one second to leave children ranging from 10 -15 alone in the hotel. Millions of people went on vacation without an incident - one girl in one country is missing and the facts haven't been announced yet. Don't let one remote bizarre incident frighten you from having a good time.

I understand that.... see if your MIL and FIL want to take the kids for an evening ;) Maybe someplace fun??? while you enjoy a night out with your dh?

I'm not fond of splitting up on a family vacation, but if your inlaws will be there and the kids will be safe and sound with them, that's something to consider- especially if you really want to try a 2TS restaurant but think the kids won't enjoy it.

My DH and I think that Artist Point is worth any number of credits!! The food is to die for. We'd eat there every night if we could. It's a wonderful experience beginning to end. We wouldn't miss it!!

Personally I don't think Narcoossee is worth it. Yes we had lobster but it still wasn't that good in my opinion. The apps and dessert were just so so and really the lobster wasn't as good as some I have had here in atlanta. We also didn't have very good service. The waitress wasn't very helpful with selections and was not around to get more water or wine.

I've only tried two:
California Grill- Have eaten there twice and we both loved it twice
Brown Derby- Not worth 2TS. Food was good, but not at all like California Grill.
