Ritz camera is offering a D40 and 18-55 and 55-200 lens package for $549. What do you guys think this will be my first SLR camera.

The D40 is a great camera for a new dSLR user. There has been a lot of discussion on this forums about this camera around here.

That shounds like a good deal- I paid I think $699 for my wifes D40 with only 1 lens (18-135) last year.

I think it's a great price, you just have to make sure that you won't mind changing lens, because the 18-55mm doesn't zoom very far. I bought the D40 with the 18-135mm and I'm glad I went with that lens because I am kind of lazy.
