I've recently purchased SCAL and have downloaded Inkscape. I've searched the net looking for some basic information on how to use Inkscape to create SVG files. I guess the problem I've encountered is most of the tutorials seem to assume a basic understanding of the program. Has anyone found a good site that explains the use of the different functions? I have managed to create one SVG file, but it has a few problems with overlapping etc. Any help would be appreciated.
Thenewest version of Inkscape (0.47) has some quirks, and I abandoned it and went back to Version 0.46 as it seems to be most stable.
As a beginning tutorial to inkscape I liked and learned A BUNCH from http://susanbluerobot.blogspot.com/2008/06/help-from-start-to-finish.html as I could have open her tutorial and do it at the same time based on the pictures on the blog. She used a bingbat and I think I just searched for that dingbat and downloaded to follow along with her example.
Thanks for the info. I've had a quick look at the bluerobot tutorial and it looks easier to follow. I've managed to do one svg file from a line drawing of a castle. It's not bad but has a couple of overlaps that aren't too visible. I will keep persisting
