Hi! I purchased a throw at the Screen Door shop during our stay at Boardwalk Inn. We returned home last weekend and I noticed a security ink tag on the throw that was never removed. I'm hoping my husband has the receipt, but I am positive of the cc I charged it to so I would have that proof of purchase. Has this happened to anyone before? What is the best way to get this removed?

I had this happen at a JCP out of state once. I got home and took it to our local store that had different tags and couldn't remove it. So, with a sharp knife, a pair of needle nose pliers, and a YouTube video, I removed it myself.

If you have a Disney Store nearby, try taking it there. Otherwise, call the store you bought it from and see if they can tell you how to remove it.

I have worked in retail (including TDS) and we would often get people coming in with purchases that tags were not removed. There are many different styles of tags - some will sound an alarm at the store door, others are ink filled. I caution you to be VERY careful if you attempt to remove an ink tag by yourself. As they are intended to do, they can spill ink if removed improperly.

Mall stores are usually willing to remove a tag if they have a similar system. Just be sure to bring along your receipt, as they will refuse without it.

I had this happen to a hat I purchased at Animal Kingdom for my husband. I had the receipt, so I took it to the mall and they removed it for me.

Best of luck!

I went to several stores in our area including the Disney Store to try and have a security tag removed, but none of them had the same system.

I called the merchandise mail order # that's on any store receipt from DW. I explained what happened and they sent a pre-paid address label and instructions on returning the item to have the tag removed. They did want a copy of the store receipt included.

I had that happen with a jacket I purchased from DL. I took it to our local Disney Store which didn't have anything to remove the security tag, they suggested taking it over to Macy's to have it removed. I had lost the receipt and was worried they wouldn't do it for me, but they had no problem removing it for me.

Bought my GDD a Minnie Mouse fannie pack type bag and found that it had the security ink tag on it when we got home. Took it to our local mall and asked at Buckle with no luck, but the person in there suggested the store across the way. Went in there and had no problem. They were really nice about it.

I had the same thing happen several years ago. Disney Store in the mall could not remove it and suggested Macy's, they refused. Ended up taking it with us on the next trip to have it removed. :)

The same happened to me last week. I purchased the 2013 pajama set in MouseGear only to find the ink tag still attached later that night when I went to put them on. Thankfully we still had 5 days at Disney and they were able to remove the tag for me at HS. However, since you're at home your best bet is going to be taking it to your local mall and finding a store that is able to remove it for you. It shouldn't be an issue.

We had this happen to us once also. I just called when we got home and they emailed me a shipping label to send it to them to be taken off. Then they sent it right back to us. Probably took a week total, as they sent it back UPS red to me.

Had this happen when my husband bought a pin storage bag at Disneyland. Ended up taking it to the Disney store at the mall but they had a different shape of tag. Ended up walking around the mall trying to find another store w/ similar shaped tags. I think it was Pac Sun that had the same tags and they agreed to remove it for me. It was a weekday in the middle of the day and they were not busy.

If you find the receipt, just call the # on it. As a PP mentioned, they sent us a replacement, and the pre-paid label to send back the other item.

This happened to me twice- Once, I got home to realize that there was still a tag on the pajamas I'd purchased! Luckily, my sister worked at Old Navy at the time, and recognized the tag, so she was able to take it off at her store.

The second time was on a bag I'd purchased, but I noticed while I was still on vacation... apparently the type of tag there was only used in a few stores in the parks, but I was able to take the bag to one of them and have it removed (but I did have the receipt).

Good Luck!
