My husband is recovering from a car accident last fall. He's finally walking on his own but get fatigued quickly. We have a trip booked for mid-April. (15-19) We're staying at the Anaheim Fairfield (DL Hotel was booked and I didn't want to pay Paradise Peir prices!).

We're hoping to rent a motorized scooter, but will be able to manage w/ a manual wheel chair if necessary ... he used one for months after the accident. Is there any place in or out of Disney to reserve these? Do they "sell out" at DL?

We'll have a rental car -- sedan, so there's no way we could pick up a scooter anywhere not at the park or very close to it. And while we have plenty of time when we get there (we're arriving on the 12th and visiting relatives first) we won't have a lot of time leaving (11am flight out of LAX) to make "side trips" if you kwim ....

Thoughts? Ideas? Thanks in advance for any advice.

I have rented an electric scooter for my DD's BF from Deckert Surgical 714-542-5607 $40 per 24 hour period. They will deliver to your hotel and pick-up after you leave. Both times we have needed the scooter it was at the hotel prior to our arrival all charged and ready to go :moped: They are very pleasant and easy to work with as I believe a lot of tourists rent scooters. There are 2 sizes of scooters and the rental price is the same...you will have to have a $50 deposit but it is credited to you charge card as soon as the scooter is returned.

Good luck! DD's BF enjoys the speediness of the Deckert's scooters...they are much faster than DL's.

Itinkso, do you know if they have manual wheel chairs to rent also? Were trying to figure out what to do for my brother. He's going to need a wheel chair for the whole trip (he won't be able to walk between parks or to the hotel room well. Even if we stay at the GCH I can see it being a big issue for him). He has a wheel chair here and home, but it won't be fitting in the car were taking down there.

So renting one like that would be a great possibility! I love the idea that they deliver it and pick it up!

Last year (and this trip too) I used Scootaround. They too deliver to the hotel and pick it up when your rental is over. I was very pleased with their service. Check them out at http://www.scootaround.com/

I have used deckerts twice ...I tried them first time based upon Itinkso recommendation...my most recent time was last month...they are really great but I am going to try another one this time...its called universal medical...they do the same thing as deckerts by delivering and picking up from your hotel but one thing I really like is that they dont charge a deposit like deckerts does (even though they do return it very quickly) and it runs about the same $40 per day...what they do is have you prepay for it when you book it....the other thing I like is they have been in business for over 25 years...the main reason Im going with them over deckerts is this last time...I couldnt keep the scooter charged and although I realize they will come and replace it, it became more of an inconvenience to have them do it because i was there only 2 days in the park and the issue didnt start up until later on in the night the first day...but imo, I think they should check these out before sending them out in the first place...so we shall see how this one goes ...if your interested they have a website...

and their number direct is 714 731 7777:goodvibes

oh and I think they have manual wheelchairs

You can rent wheelchairs and scooters at DL. The Scooter is a $50 deposit, but you get $25 back at the end of the day, and I forget the price of a wheelchair, but it is reasonable.

I'm taking my dad to DL March 13-15 and he has to use a wheelchair where ever we go,so I called scootaround and for 3 days with delivery to the hotel and pick up it was about $160-170. At DL it's $35 a day with $20 deposit (you get it back when you return the ECV). I think by the middle of the day they sell out but if you change parks you have to get one from the other park you just park it at the front rental place and go get another at the other park. hope this helps!

thats not true...you can take the same cart back and forth from DL to DCA...you just cant go into DD with it

GCH does have their own manual wheelchairs that they loan out. I am not sure if they can be reserved for you ahead of time or if it is only first come-first served. It would be best to rent the wheelchair from an outside source rather than at DL as you can only use the chair at the parks and not DTD.

DLH does the same thing but they will only allow guests to use it at the hotel not the parks or dd and Im thinking GC does the same thing but Im not sure:confused3
