Inital Entry for a Deluxe AP on a Blockout Day

I have an eTicket for a Deluxe Annual Passport. Am I able to use it on a blockout day for my initial entry?

There is nothing on the eTicket that says it isn't valid on a blockout day, although it does say, "Enjoy pre-selected days of admission to both Disneyland Resort Theme Parks." It doesn't say what the pre-selected days are or if that's referring to the eTicket or the AP itself.

It also says, "This ticket is valid for one admission to either Disneyland Resort Theme Park and must be exchanged for an Annual Pass on the same day of entry." Given that an eTicket is not technically an annual pass, does that mean it is not subject to that pass' blockout days?

So tomorrow is a blockout day for a Deluxe Annual Passport. Will I be able to get into DL with my eTicket without also purchasing a blockout day ticket? I don't want to get all the way down there and not be able to get in with just my eTicket.

I've read on a very reputable site that this is a little know secret that anyone CAN do. If the first day you use your AP is a blackout day, you can still get in. Only works for that first day though. I'd be interested to hear from someone who's actually done this. Let us know.

I'm not sure when you use a voucher.

When you buy an AP at the ticket booths you can always use it that day. If you couldn't you could by a ticket go in and upgrade it on the way out. So by letting you in the first day, it doesn't require you to make two trips to the ticket booths and the added hassle that goes with that.

I'm not sure it applies for vouchers.

Yes, you can do this. However, if you park hop after getting your pass processed, it may come up that it's invalid due to a block out day...just kindly tell them that you bought it that day, and they'll check the date on your pass and let you in. :thumbsup2

yes, you can do this, even with a voucher. And you get full hopping privileges as well. You won't have any problems, no CM's will question you getting in, your pass will be valid on the black out day without purchasing a black out pass.

WOW, this is exciting news! We are going in July and will be purchasing AP's online and the day we check in is a Saturday, so a black out day. I was just planning on getting settled and hanging out by the pool etc. Good to know that we can go into the park since it will be our first day using our passes. :cool1:

My plans changed so I didn't actually make it out to DL today. Since it's supposed to rain tomorrow (this Angeleno doesn't do well with weather), I might still get to try this out next Saturday. It sounds like it won't be a problem, but I'll report back my success if I do attempt my initial entry on a blockout day.

Yes you can.

That's what makes you an Angeleno. We So Cal folk just don't "do" rain. :wizard:

On the contrary, rainy days are the best for thinning the crowds, so I can get some beautiful photos in!

I would hate to have to drive on a freeway in SoCal to get the D-Land, though. In that respect, So Cal Peeps do NOT do well in bad weather. Eesh.
