information on Disney store employment

Good Morning!!!!
I am thinking of applying at my local Disney store for a job and was wondering what the hiring process is like, how long before they contact you for an interview? I assume they do background checks, which is great, I have nothing to hide although I do not have a GED (I am studying for it)would they still hire me? I know the money isn't that great but, I wouldn't work there for the money.are there any perks for working at the store? I would appreciate any feedback
from a CM as I am so obsessed with Disney and am not going back until November and would love to be around the magic to get me through until I can see Mickey again you can post on the board or email/pm me.

Hi Dolphincrazy,

I am currently a pt cm at our local Disney Store. Here are a couple of things that you may or may not know about the Disney Store:

1. They are no longer owned by the Walt Disney Company. In December they were all (except the one on 5th Ave. in NYC) sold to The Children's Place.

2. You are expected to be "on-call" for many shifts. On-call means that you must be available, call the store two hours before the shift, and then be told if you are needed for that shift.

3. Pay is minimal and there are no discounts at WDW or DL now. CM's at the DS get a 30% discount on most (not all) Disney Store merchandise.

4. With all the above said there are usually very few openings. I got lucky in that I was a frequent guest at our DS and the CM's all knew me well before I was hired. I would just suggest you fill out a "perspective employee" form and then keep checking back with the managers frequently to see if there are any openings. Most openings occur in October for the Holidays. They hire some additional "seasonal" cm's and if you are lucky you might get kept on as permanent employee.
