Information from DCL or lack of?

I remember when I rescheduled our cancelled July 2020 cruise for March 2021. I thought everything would be back to normal by then.
We did the same - 9-night Southern 2020 was cancelled and we moved to March 2021 - which was also cancelled. That cruise is now moved to June 2022 and my daughter and her friend will have aged out of the clubs and just graduated high school.

When you guys booked your August cruises didn’t you assume you’d be sailing under strict protocols? Most of you probably booked when the CSO was still in effect.
Im surprised at all the outrage. You had to know It wouldn’t be a normal cruise right?
Yeah, I think most (at least I know I personally) assumed strict protocols. Everyone has a different level of what they both want, and are willing to accept. I think it's just the frustration of not knowing anything this close that is getting under everyone's skin.

I agree a lot with what iannovich wrote a few posts up, what someone was comfortable with at the time of booking might not be the same that they are comfortable with now, seeing how life has changed so much in the past few months with vaccinations.

What I want: fully vaccinated for everyone over 12, no masks needed
What I am willing to put up with: Hazmat suits required for everyone!
Deal Breaker for me: No Palo Brunch!

In the meantime, we just wait....

Yes, my son will be 18 when we cruise in December 2022. But as he was never into the clubs, I think that's fine. He'll be able to try Palo, the adult pool deck, etc.

For a first timer, I have nothing to compare it against, we knew when we would be different to the many informative (and not so useful blogs) what it use to be like. our expectations are well managed, and the odd useful vlog we have seen meets our expectations. In all honesty we are just glad to be going to sea on DCL ship.

I would rather only get info that is relevant closer to sailing than lots of info, they then recall due to changes.

my comms Frustration come from concierge, (well lack of commas) but I get they are super busy and it’s a pandemic

we are doing a UK Staycation from Southampton in 20 days 😃

I’m set to sail mid Sept. I’ve kept my booking with the assumption that all the rumored protocols/adjustments will be in place and am okay with them.

but it’s not our first cruise nor our only for 2021 so my standards are different than others may be.

Agree 1000%. Every option is just worse than the next.

Honestly I think the option that would anger people the least at this point is canceling.

It's the unannounced protocols that's going to anger people the most.
Telling people if you have to wear a mask or social distance (or not) this close to a sailing is bound to really piss people off.

No question, canceling would be what angers the least number of people. We just want to be able to move on to alternative plans.

You will probably have a good time then. People are getting Covid with the vaccine so I’m not sure these low protocol cruises will last anyway. Most cruise lines are taking it one month at a time. There is still a lot of uncertainty.

I booked my September cruise over a year ago when i had to move my September 2020 cruise. So, I actually expected it to be almost totally back to normal.
At this time last year we all thought things would be back to normal by now, buts it’s been obvious the last few months that things were not going to back to normal by September.

10N HI cancelled, moved to 9N Southern (like you) which was cancelled, moved to Oct 1 7N MX Riviera. I did not expect us to be in this situation today.

Life has been looking pretty normal all summer in my hometown: no masks required anywhere except for a visit to the doctor's office or a flight out of town. No capacity restrictions anywhere, most people not fretting about Covid. One can't really say, "such and such is obvious because of how things are going", because restrictions are and have been different in every state and city throughout the entire pandemic. And other sectors of travel, including the Disney parks and other cruise lines, have begun working their way back to normal. So it really isn't obvious that Disney cruises wouldn't be ready to begin working back to normal, unless one happens to be very well-versed in all things DCL.

The theme parks opened a year ago.
The theme parks were an entirely different experience last July, compared to where they are today. So there have been major advances in normalcy there in the past several months. And all of the other cruise lines do have to deal with the CDC, and many of them are already sailing out of US ports.

Up until a month ago there was still a cso. I would love it if cruises resumed with no protocols or requirements, but that is not what people want as evidenced by all the arguments that have taken place on various cruise forums over the last few months. It also depends on what you consider normal. I don’t consider showing a vaccine card or a Covid test result normal.

Only with vaccinated people over the age of 12 that’s hardly back to normal. Theme parks don’t exclude anyone.

Depends on your definition of extreme. The cruises that are the least restricted are that way because they ask people to "volunteer" vaccines and have only 5% unvaccinated, meaning very little children. That doesn't fit Disney's demographic. For Disney to sail family friendly with over 5% children, then they need more safety protocols in place. Some would consider those protocols (masks, social distancing, cruise-led excursions) extreme.

They can't have their cake and eat it too. They will have to decide one way or the other eventually...and tell us one of these days too!

Not only do people not want that, I don't think Disney wants it either. I can't see the same company having such extreme restrictions that their "fully vaccinated" UK sailings changed meet n greets to prevent people from getting close to characters, and then doing a non-restricted no vaccine cruise on the other side of the ocean at the same time. it isn't logical. There will be protocols, there has to be.
