There is a slim, slim chance that I may be considering switching from a 4 day to a 7 day. I would not be able to do this until nearly a month before cruise day (Dec 11), so obviously it would depend on availability on the ship. We have made our reservations through Dreams Unlimited. Has anyone ever done anything like this or do they know how it might work?

Thanks! :goodvibes

I'm not sure how that would work if you were only a month away from sailing. The December cruises are filling up. I would check with your TA now. You would also be paying alot more for the cruise purchasing it that close to the cruise date.

I have never traded up from a 4 to a 7 day. However, I was able to change the date on a 7 day--I moved it up 2 weeks so that we cruised before the parks instead of after so that I could be available for a (non-cruising) familiy member's surgery which was scheduled during our original cruise time. The only think it cost me was a "re-ticketing fee" which was very reasonable. We picked up the new documents at the port, as all of this was arranged less than 72 hours before we actually sailed.

I guess I should note that the cruises were still listing availability in our category and were the same price. Also, but moving the cruise up, DCL had 2 more weeks to sell our spot on the later cruise.

It worked for us, but I sure wouldn't count on availability! I'd suggest that you call DCL or your TA and get an official answer on this one.

I am seriously considering doing this for our 2006 cruise I booked. I currently have a 4 day cruise booked and we are planning on doing the parks for 2-3 days. We are doing this totally on our own. No sea/land package. I chose the 4 day cruise for 2 reasons.
1. We have done 3 and 7 but have yet to do the 4 day cruise
2. I work for the school system and I know our fall break dates but we live in a different county in which I work. Meaning my children attend a difffernt countys schools. I do not know their fall break time for 2006. I will know it in about 4 months.

If I can not talk DH into a 7 night cruise for 2007 I might change our 4 day to a 7 day.

Are there any fees in doing this?

We had our reservation for a 4 night Sept. 18th and just this week we got a great deal and changed it to a 7 night Sept. 10th. SueEllen at Dreams Unlimited was wonderful and worked it out and there were no penelties but she did say that if we had waited till July 17th then there would have been penelties. So it is possible just don't wait till too close to your cruise. Good luck and have a wonderful cruise!!

At only 30 days out wouldn't you pay a hefty penalty for cancelling the 4 day, plus the current rate for the 7 night?
