We will making a short trip to WDW during President's Day Week. We have never tried POR so decided to give it a try - & also wanted to keep the expense of the trip within reason as we just returned & will be going back again for Easter! :Pinkbounc

Any information anyone can give me on this resort would be appreciated. It looks like a fun resort. Anything in particular we should keep in mind before arriving? TIA! :D

Hi we just got back from POR a few wks ago and pictures do not do this resort justice! WE absolutely loved it. Magnolia Terrace over looking the quiet pool is were we stayed- the bridge to the main pool and restaurant area was just outside our door about a 3-5 min walk if that to everything. I have to say we LOVED the quiet pool - warm and not crowded!! My DD really enjoyed herself. The Mansion section has all been renovated and the room was great. Any questions and I'd be happy to answer them.

We returned from POR 3 weeks ago and loved it. We stayed in the Arcadia House, 3rd Floor, and could not have been happier. DD (5) loved the pool and the beautiful pathways. DH and I loved the food court and the whole layout of the resort. When we checked in we were overwhelmed, but after a quick walt to the bus or the main lobby we realized we never walked more than 5 minutes to anything. The mansions are renovated and I have to agree the pictures do not do it justice. Great Service-Great Price...there was no problem with anything.

We are hoping to stay here for our next trip. (I will get planning after x-mas), we were originally going to try the BC, but we really enjoyed this and would like to try it again.

Enjoy.

I have only stayed there one time back when it was Dixie Landings. I loved it! We stayed in the Alligator Bayou section. Its very quiet and Romantic. There are lots of trees. Transpo from theat resort can be a little tricky because its so huge. If you stay there, just make sure you try to get a room near a bus pick up point ( there are several) and learn the scheduals.

We LOVE PO-Riverside!! (Like the name "Dixie Landings" better though!!) The kids love the food court and the pool. The rooms are very nice also. The landscaping is just beautiful!! Highly recommend it!! :cloud9:

Thanks everyone - I'm very excited about staying here now! :D

My husband and I are back two weeks from POR Riverside. Had a great time, again! (our third time there) We stayed in Oak Manor this time and it was as beautiful as Acadian and Magnolia where we stayed previously. The resort and grounds are absolutely beautiful, the food court is great (especially the chocolate cake in the bakery), the boat to Downtown Disney is wonderful, and the quiet pools are relaxing. We wish we were on our way back now! You will have a wonderful time!!!

I'm so glad to hear such wonderful responses from all of you. We were looking for a new resort for our May trip and decided on POR. Now I know we've decided on the right spot!! :D

See you in May! My wife and I will be returning for our second time to POR. We've stayed a lot of places and this is at the top of our list. I enjoyed my stay here much more than my stay at the Grand Floridian concierge. Look out for a grand gathering of very excited people if you are there in May (specifically the 20-27).

We spent our honeymoon there in 2001 and it is still one of my favorite places. We stop by for the Banana stuffed french toast every trip. We don't stay there anymore since becoming DVC members, but if we weren't using points I would stay there again in a second.

We love POR-Riverside! We just stayed there on 11/24 and had a newly renovated room in Arcadia House. We had dinner at the food court and breakfast at Boatwrights. I thought the selection was very good. We really enjoy the leisurely boat ride to DTD and even took a nice walk to the French Quarter. I think it is a great resort!

We stayed there in '99 when it was Dixie Landings and really enjoyed it. We also stayed at POFQ in 2002 and that has become our favorite resort. However, we couldn't get a room with a King bed at POFQ this trip. When you are there, check to see if Bob "The Piano Man" Jackson will be performing in the River Roost Lounge and stop by to see his performance. He's hilarious! And plan to take the boat down to DTD at least once. You can see photos of POR at: POR Photos.
Enjoy your stay!
Mike

Thanks for the link to the photos, Mike. The resort looks beautiful. I have always wanted to stay there & now I'm finally getting the chance. :D

How is bus service to MGM and Epcot? Is there just 1 bus stop?

Which Mansion is more desirable? Have they all been renovated?

Is there a slide at the pool? I know there is one at the FQ pool, but how long a walk is that from the mansions?
