Info on Photo Scanning Services

Good Evening,

I have thousands of photos that I would love to have scanned and put on disc. I was wondering if anyone out there has ever used any of the "Photo Scanning Services" that are available? I have read pros and cons of several and would just like to get some feedback if anyone has any.

I've not used a service, I scan all my film and slides myself. It's not difficult, just time consuming.

I used Discount Digital Art in Raleigh NC for a small batch of negative scans, they did a good job. For the large quantity of negatives I have it seemed more cost-effective to buy a scanner and do them myself (over a long time).

For slides a duplicator lens can do very quick "scans". To get the full slide either a FF camera or some modifications to the duplicator are necessary.
