Info on Holiday Quest

I got some info on the holiday quest. QA Dog, can't remember how to spell the entire title, had a quest open and I asked her about the holiday quest. She said the prices are going to be the same as last year. I asked about a date, would it start the 2nd week in December likt last year and she said she hoped so.

I said I wished more than anything VMK would give us dates and she said that the holdup was waiting for all of the decorations to be put up. If this is really the case, isn't everything up by the first of December?

So there will be White Snowmen again this Christmas!

And why, why why do the prizes have to be the same as last year??? At least throw in a new decoration here or there!

Well if they are going to rerelease the Pirates stuff which clearly says RETIRED when you look on hte VMK site, they can bring back anything. All the have to do it put a new number on the card

Somewhere (forgot where) Yavn confirmed there will be Holiday Quests at the parks again. And somebody asked if it would be the same or if there would be new stuff and he responded with "maybe some new stuff, maybe not". Somebody else asked if we would be able to get Snowmen again and he said yes to that. Looking at the re-release of the Pirate Quest, there are 3 new items, so maybe the new Holiday Quests will get new stuff inlcluded.

My guess, which I think is the fair thing for regulars, is that they will switch Gold to WDW and white to DLR. Just my thought though. And yes decorations are definitely up by Thanksgiving.

I'm pretty sure the last day was December 31. Last year I had a SoCal pass for DLR and was blocked out the last 2 weeks of December and only had a 1 week window to do it.

It was over either December 31 or January 1st. I was there on Jan 12 and they said they didn't even have the cards any more. I also missed the Pirate quest be a few days. They ran out of cards a few days before. I was so sad!

When I was in Yavn's trade room the other night he confirmed that there would be a holiday quest but would not say if the prizes would be the say or different.

I totally heart the snowflakes in the load screen, the ones with the Mickey icon in their center - Great! It would be awesome for them to release these as a poster, similar to the wreaths.

When I very first saw the Snowman on the load screen I felt the White Snowman was coming back... it was displayed on the screen in the same way as the DLR Pumpkin, and that came out as an in-park quest item.

I find it doubtful that anyone (DLR or WDW) will get the Gold Snowman. The 50th is over and I think that gold items will stay retired indefinitely (at least until WDW has it's 50th, heh). In fact I'll be surprised, out-right shocked, if they ever release the remaining alternate color 50th Director chairs (blue, etc.). I hope they do, but I doubt it.

I think they'll bring the White Snowman back as an in-park quest prize. I wonder if they'll bring it back at both parks or just at one. I wonder further that it might stay at WDW, and DLR will get a different exclusive item to replace the Gold Snowman. Or, DLR will get the White Snowman as a "new" item and WDW will get a really new exclusive... So many ways to go...

I do hope they release something else new for Christmas (besides just the nifty new hat!). Which I expect they will. I'm figure they'll do as they did for Halloween and re-release the Christmas Trees, Presents, Toontown Fireplace, Wreaths (at least Pink and Green), and Soldiers (at least Red and Green). I would love them to release a green or blue Mickey Ears Santa Hat (sorry - "Holiday Hat Green" and "Holiday Hat Blue"). But, as with this Halloween's Bat/Pumpkin bags and new Candy Dispenser - I would love to see some new Christmas stuff.

I would love to see something for Kwanzaa and Hanukkah. I celebrate neither personally, and know very little about the former, but at least a Menorah for the later seems appropriate. Maybe a Star of David poster... DLR has started showing "alternate" holiday stuff (last year Main Street even had one of the building decorated for Hannukkah) and VMK is playing the Dreidel song in one of the public rooms so why not?

The gold was for the 50th anniverasy. I would think they wouldn't have that again. I think of it as the "butter snowman".

Nope. Only in-park VMK stuff is at DLR and WDW.

Just thought I would let you (and everyone else) know that there is a Star of Mickey pin. The ONLY Chanukkah item ever released in VMK.

Also, Disneyland has sold Chanukkah items for a few years now - yay, finally! (I know you were commenting on decoration, I was just adding to it.)

And, little trivia fact for everyone: There is actually a mezzuzah on the door frame of 1 storefront on Main Street at DLR. It was added a few years back. With a very funny story that's a bit OT but if anyone's interested let me know.

Does anyone know the date that the Holiday Quest started last year? Yes, I'm trying to plan a trip around it

I'm hoping it will be out early December as I'd like to avoid the holiday rush! I also hope they tell us soon (all the hotels are starting to get sold out!)
