I planned loads before I got my date confirmed.

I planned loads before I got my date confirmed.

I have sent Randys contract and deposit off but thats all i have done so far.
I think i will wait to see if my preferred date is free with Disney (when they call me, hopefully today) and then i will plan a bit more.

Told a few people so far, my side are all happy but my other halfs side is not too pleased we are going over to Florida to get married. Knew this wouldn't be simple x

Ignore them and concentrate on what you want.

I said, "hi, i was wondering if it was possible to speak to a wedding planner about booking a wedding for next year please"

She took some of my details, name, address, tel number etc, and asked when i wanted to get married, i told her "either March or October next year" (i said March because i know it's 8 months away and i didn't want to say October and her to say it's too early to ring now.

Then she said someone would call me back between 24 and 48 business hours.

I really hope they call today x

I'm from County Durham; that's right I am Northerner, but please don't hold that against he, ha!

Being so far away form the location I suppose doesn't help as you don't feel like you have any physical control over what shall be happening. It also means some family and friends are going to be upset but the way I look at it, it's our day and family are welcome if they wish, otherwise we shall see them when we get back. Or is that me being really mean and or a complete control freak? haha!

I've spoken to Disney and have been dealing with Wedding Consultant who has been really lovely. However, with the time difference it's difficult to catch each other and by the time we get in touch I seem to have accumulated a million more questions! I must say she has been truly wonderful thus far though.

Yes. On the first call, you talk to a receptionist. Then a Wedding Consultant calls you back and will shepherd you through the first half of your planning - all the sales stuff, like contracts and deposits. After that, Escape couples get a Wedding Services Coordinator who handles all the details of the ceremony itself.

That's a bit of a shame as I really like who I am dealing with. Oh, LurkyLoo I found your PassPorter Wedding Ebook today and bought it. There is so much information and really helpful tips, the Pirate boat ride sounds really fun for the family!

Highly recommended for the rest of you ladies if you haven't already downloaded one. http://www.passporter.com/weddings.asp

I too am a fellow northerner. I am from Leeds originally, but moved down south a few years ago.

Your not mean or a control freak at all i totally agree where you are coming from!
I know none of my other halfs family are happy but then i didn't expect them to be!

Hope i get a phone call from DFTW today although i think it will probably be more likely Monday.
Really want to get my make up booked in but it's pointless doing it now until i know our preferred date is available x

Oh right! I commute to Leeds for work now and then, I love the accent; can't beat a bit of a Yorkshire twang.

Will you be able to book today do you think? I've been told that I can only book 8 months in advance. I have noticed that some people seem to have achieved this earlier though. I'm still in the deciding this or that stages so I'm quite happy not have the the paperwork rolled out just yet ;)

I know it's difficult for people to travel so far, but family need to realise it's your day and they are privelgaed to share it with you. They will come around and if not, well it's their loss!

Just spoken to DFTW (wow that was quick, only 24 hours! thought i would be waiting longer)

She said the same as what she has said to everyone else. That i am pencilled in but can't book until February 1st 2010! God that seems like an age away!
I gave her my preferred times and locations so we shall see.

Really want to book flights in January because i have noticed they are cheaper, and i want to book the Animal Kingdom Lodge for a week during the wedding, before moving into a villa for 3 weeks.
I think i am going to go ahead and book all this in January. Hope i won't be jinxing myself!

To be honest i am hoping to keep my guest count to 8 so i can have it at Sunset Point, i also think it would be easier getting this location seen as though it would be for Escape weddings only. Otherwise it will be at the Seabreeze Point.

We have already booked our flights and a villa for the first week of our holiday, we are planning on staying in a disney hotel for the second week as part of the required stay.
That's really quick in getting back to you, you have inspired me to call too!

I think you should call today and then they should call you back Monday probably.

Will your wedding be the second week of your holiday?

x

No hopefully the first week, we leave on the 9th of October and come home on the 23rd. We are quite flexible with our date since we will be there for two weeks. It'll be good to have someone from the UK planning for about the same date! Going to phone this week sometime I think, it's a shame that they changed the booking from a year to 8 months!

I just don't understand why you can't book and leave a deposit anytime. It's hard with living in the UK, as people need to get flights booked etc.
I have told my family and other halfs family thay they have until January to let us know if they will be coming.

How many guests are you hoping for? x

You just feel a bit out of control I suppose, but we both know it will be worth all of this hangin on in the end. We are having 18 guests hopefully, what are your wedding plans? x

I think part of it is because they use a lot of the same spaces for conventions and they make more money out of them so they keep the space free for them.

Really not too sure. I am guessing 10-12 guests but will depend on everyones finanicial situation.

Have you started dress shopping? x

Have any of you considered renting Disney vacation club points? We were looking into it, sounds like a good deal and comes highly recommended.

However, I was just wondering with traveling form the UK if either of you were considering it also?

not shopping but I have been looking online and have seen Maggie Sottero dresses that I like. I am looking forward to that part though, you? There seems to be plenty time to get organized but it will be here in no time!
