We have gone to Clearwater Beach a few times in the past and plan to go back this summer. WE have stayed at the Hilton, Adams Mark and Holiday Inn Sunspree. We also stayed at TradeWinds in St. Pete Beach (which I thought was dirty!).

I am now looking into the Radisson on Sand Key as well as the Sheraton.

Has anyone stayed at either.........can you give me your views on them. We will be staying at OKW and go over to Clearwater for the weekend before coming back to OKW for a second week. My 3 DD's love the beach and the warm water!!!

Thanks

We have stayed at the Radisson Suite Resort on Sand Key and it's a pretty nice place, you have two rooms, the bedroom with two double beds and a TV, and a LR/Kitchen combo w/another TV, mini fridge, mini bar, sofa, desk and chair, etc.

The Radisson is on the bay side, w/no beach frontage...for that you'd need to stay at the Sheraton across the street. The pool at the Radisson though is wonderful with a nice waterfall (no slide though) hot tub and playground.

Sand Key Beach Park is absolutely goregous, but because of it's location, has very little waves. The water is as clear as drinking water, and very warm!

Thanks Blondie. I think I would be better off at the Sheraton as we definetly want to be on the beach. I am not too concerned with waves so that really doesn't matter. I love the thought of WARM, CLEAR water.

So, is the Sheraton right on the beach?? Thanks........

Rosemary, I've been to the Sheraton many times. Most recently, I stayed there twice in 2001. The rooms were remodeled, I think in 2000, and they are very nice.

It is right on the beach, with a nice pool area/pool bar. They also have tennis courts, and a workout room, and several restaurants.

The beach is huge now, due to a replenishing project. The resort rents lounge chairs and cabanas.

Hope you have a fun trip!

We were at the Sheraton Sand Key for 3 nights just 6 weeks ago!
It was spotless and well maintained, we found the staff friendly and efficient. Very nice pool area and beautiful wide beach - right adjacent to the Beach Park next door that others have mentioned. (There are swingsets at the park that your little one might like too!) DH and I enjoyed our stay very much.

Unless cost is a huge factor for you, I would not recommend the less expensive rooms that face east, even if they are high enough to have the "view of the inland waterway", because you see the waterway out across the street but below you is the large expanse of roof over the entrance way and function rooms.
I'd spring for a Gulf view if I went again :) just becasue if I'm AT the beach I really enjoy looking out at the ocean from my room/balcony!

I think you'd enjoy it for a weekend on the beach!

Thanks for the info. It sounds like a go!! A Oceanview is much preferred for us!!! Do they have balconies that I could have morning coffee on overlooking the ocean?????? That sounds like heaven to me right now as I look out my window and see dirty snow with more on its way!!! LOL!!

Ugh!! Tradewinds was dirty! It always looked so nice to me, in fact we have been thinking of staying there, now I will reconsider. Thanks for the warning. We have stayed in Clearwater a few times, but stayed at a friend's condo. She has sold it and now we are also looking for possible resorts. Sheraton Sand Key has always looked very nice to us. Hope you have a great time!!!

Down a ways, at St Pete beach you will find the wonderful Don Cesar!:D You CANNOT go wrong there. They have suites at a property nearby, have not stayed at those yet. We all 4 loved the Don Cesar and there were kids programs available too. Treated like royalty...ah...I want to go back NOW!:smooth:

Yes the Sheraton has balconies on the Gulf side. That is where we stayed, really liked it. I'd post a pic but I can't get the scanner to work!

Have fun!

My friend is looking at staying at the Hilton Clearwater Resort. Can anyone tell me more about it? :teeth:
