Info needed about my booking with HoJo

I've booked direct with the hotel themselves via their website.
I have a booking reference for a NQQ2 room with Garden Pool View in building 2. I have booked it using my debit visa card.
My Question for those of you who have done the same in the past - did they charge a deposit to the card before your visit or was the whole amount charged upon checkout?

Have moved some money across into the account just in case - but it doesn't cover the entire cost of the 14 days booked.

Oh - do any of you know any "unofficial" website addresses that I can use to find info on what there is to do in southern california?

Thanks

Unless its a prepay rate you pay a deposit and balance on check out(see below from thier site)
Usually 1 nights rate is the deposit fully refundable if you cancel but I can't see it to confirm.
Did you check UK agents? we paid about half price booking in UK compared to direct.

We require a valid credit card to confirm your reservation and guarantee your room. Any required deposit or pre-payment will be charged to this card in advance of your arrival. Otherwise, your card will not be charged until you check-out.

I'm not very good at looking around websites - do you have any suggestions Wayne as booking can be easily cancelled if I can find it cheaper elsewhere?

Costing direct came up at $2398.90 for 14 nights 30th July - 13th August for 2 adults, 2 children 13-17 and 1 child 0-12

A bit early yet, only std rooms showing

Direct std room $2,237.90 (£1,443.80)
Deluxe room $2,398.90 (£1,547.67)

Hotelopia std room £896 less 10% Quidco = £806.40

Std room is £637.40 cheaper with Hotelopia, its just finding, waiting for a UK supplier to have a deluxe room for sale.

Only downside is UK supplier is a fixed price, direct with hotel they will reduce the rate if they advertise less between now and you going.
I liked the HOJO but to me its not worth £110/night, we paid about £35 both visits.(std room)

Its been a difficult decision to make as we're normally booked up before now, but left it due to the cost of our recent WDW holiday. Virgin holidays are almost sold out of all their holidays, so made me panic a bit!! :scared1:
I have until 4pm 28th July 2011 to cancel the direct booking if I find a better deal, but at least it holds a room.
Only 2 days ago I would have been able to book a premier room as I was looking at the Queen suites (SNQ1) but they are no longer available today, so did make me panic that the best available rooms were being snapped up quickly.

I booked direct with ho jo before they dont take anything until you check in ,they take a cc to hold it but dont take anything and its fully cancellable until 48 hours before with no penaltys.

Did you check if there entertainment dates for your stay..normally cheaper.

the price it gave was the cheapest at the moment but their website does state that they guarantee their best available rate - so presumably the amount they charge can change depending on whether they offer discounts?

I am the other way, never ever panic about hotels, I have even booked Xmas eve and flown Xmas day to Florida, they never sell out of rooms, sometimes might have to take 2nd choice but always a room. I usually book all my hotels about 3-6 months before arrival for best prices.

Just looked back I booked Hojo 6th June 07 for 22nd Oct 07 arrival @ £34.80/night.
1st time I booked 18th June 06 for arrival 19th Oct 06 @ £36.40/night

We did not find this to be the case - we returned at the end of July. They charged the full amount on check out - no deposit charged in advance at all. Will you have an AP? We booked ours online and had them activated at park - showed them when we checked in to get some nights at 50% (and the rest at 20%) - keep checking the HoJO forums!

We originally had a NQQ2 room booked (Deluxe Queen) but we weren't happy with our room - it wasnt a pool view and very noisy - on the end right next to the freeway. We got a free upgrade to a Premium Disney view NQQ1 (6th floor) - it was great and bigger room all round - we would book this type in future.

We wanted to book a Queen suite - but none left, so the biggest we could book was the Deluxe Queen. I would complain too if we didn't get the pool view - as that's what I've paid for! If I wanted a freeway view - I'd have booked that type. We'll have to wait and see.

Have just checked Travelocity, Expedia and Hotel Kingdom and none of them can do the room cheaper than the hotel direct - $149/night, so I'm happy at the moment I've done the right thing - but then it was the best rate I asked it for and they do give a best offer guarantee.
