Info from MonkeyRulz: "Baby" is back in the dictionary

Mal, well said. We all end up punished cause of those that use the word in bad ways and it isn't right. Those players should be punished not the rest of us that are using them correctly. Sadly with baby being allowed we will see tons of the "hey baby" and such which is wrong. Obivously removing beach didn't help since I've seen bench used instead. UGH!

HOLD ON A SECOND...Let me clean my ears...

(cleans)

OH WAIT I HEARD YOU RIGHT.

Okay, so when "baby" wasn't in the dictionary, people said "bay.be", now that it's in the dictionary, they'll say "baby". How is adding that word to the dictionary going to make things any different than they were before? :confused3

Exactly ... nothing has changed as far as I'm concerned, I see people saying hey bay.be all the time. Even with the correct spelling of it now, people will probably still say it that way :headache:

Okay, my personal take: Baby is not a bad word, it does not identify who you are, where you are or how old you are (as I doubt you are actually a baby if you can type the word). Kids in real life play "baby," so... what's the big deal about the word? (Btw, I am also not sure what's so awful about Mom or Dad and son or daughter.)

I did not ask, but was in the host room when the answer was given. And sometimes, when it's not a bad or harmful word, the answer really is a simple one:

So because people use the word <REMOVED> as a dictionary dance for a profanity in the game... it makes it ok to add the real word since "they are going to say it anyway"? Help me out here.. I'm confused. :confused3

Why even have a dictionary if that's the case?

Well, and again this is MY opinion not anything said by any VMK staff, baby is not a bad word. I think the dances done with <REMOVED> are. Baby? No.

As Disney dream said "baby" is not a bad word.

Well, not everybody knows what people mean when they say that word, as it doesn't sound or look like the word it's supposed to represent, whereas bay.be sounds the same as baby, so there's really almost no question about what people were saying. Same really goes for the other words that people use as "swears" on the game.

I agree with what Mnementh said. Although I dont get why they did this, I am not outraged.

No, I realize that... and maybe I should have made it more clear, but I was directing this at the Host's excuse for why it was put back in. Just because "people say it anyway" doesn't mean that they need to change the dictionary. Did any of us really need to have the word "baby" added to the dictionary? No, but according to what the Host said the reason they added it was because people said it anyway... anyone else a little confused about their reasoning? All I'm saying is... if staff accept the word Baby just because people said it anyway, then what word will they accept next that people say anyway?

I don't have a problem with the word itself really... but why was it even added anyway?

I too don't see what the big deal is...ppl were dictionary dancing "baby" anyway. But if they're going to add that word, why not add many others? That's what makes it all so confusing...

thank you

Well frankly I dont see any difference in kids saying Bay be or Baby... So I am fine with it...

I can't find the article that said it ... but recently someone asked Yavn if it was ok to play baby ... Yavns reply was that it was ok, so long as they didn't describe or act out 'adult acts'. So, adding baby to the dictionary seems to support this.

"Because they said it anyway" was the most childish excuse a staff member could have given. If they put baby in "because they said it anyway," why didn't they put the real versions of "beach" and "sock" in the dictionary?

I think ppl are taking that quote a bit to literally. I shared it to help, not create more of a "stir."

Fin was running a game room and trying to keep a line moving and fielding questions and I think that was a short reply to a question.

Why is the word "Baby" worthy of so much debate? I just don't get it..... :confused3

Some days it just seems like the VMK Team can't win.
Some of us complain when words are not in the dictionary...others complain when some words are added.

:confused3 :confused3 :confused3 :confused3

The real versions of those words have no good side to them, as to Baby it does.

I really don't care if they put this word in there or not. Doesn't bother me.

The fact that they were saying them anyway was the truth. As for beach and those words, they are not saying those.
