OK, here's what I am looking for. I would like to know what is the single most influential Disney movie or cartoon in your life, and why. Which one had the biggest impact on your life? (If you have two or three favs, and you simply cannot choose, that cool.) I'll start things off.

I choose Peter Pan (the old cartoon). I think, for me, it defines how a child looks at Dreamland, which is what Disney is all about. Seeing Neverland helps you see the world differently.

OK, now it's your turn! I'm anxious to hear your choices.

I feel so stupid! Somehow the computer did not log me in, but I wanted to get credit for my post (LOL)! I hope it works THIS time.

"The Little Mermaid" It came out when I was 15 years old, but I didn't see it until it came out on video. My little sister was 3 years old and due to our age difference, I baby-sat her a lot. She watched the movie all the time and I paid little attention. Then one day I decided to sit down and actually watch the entire thing. I instantly fell in love with the music and became Disney obsessed. I completely redecorated my bedroom into Disney and decided that as soon as I was 17 I would get a job at Disneyland which I did. I worked there 7 years and was married at the Disneyland Hotel.
All because of a singing mermaid :)
I think the subsequent movies of Beauty and the Beast and Aladdin only helped fuel the fire as musically, that trio is the best of Disney Animation.

My absolute favorite movie is The Lion King!!!! My parents took me and my sister to see a double movie(it was played along with angels in the outfield)and we never laughed so hard in my life!!! I love the story line because it shows no matter where you are in life or where you come from, you should never ever forget that!! Especially if you have responsibilites to take care of!! Also, with the help of friends and family, you're never alone and you never have to fight your own battles alone either!! I watch this movie whenever I can because it helps me out in some of my most troubled times!!!

I'm starting to cry now so I must go!!! LOL!!!

mine would be bambi,no question. when bambi's mom dies-that is the saddest thing in the world to me! to this day I always fight for the right of animals. I think my family gets annoyed with me because I refuse to go into the animation studio at mgm, because they show that part, first time I went in there, I started crying, right there in public!

I think this is a hard one. I like Beauty and the Beast because it's such a beautiful love story. Belle is a strong women too!!! ( I also LOVE all of the Santa Claus movies)

I would have to say "Mary Poppins". I was just a kid when it came out (OK, I'm old). But it was so magical to me. To this day it remains one of my favorite films.

Hi, I was about to post the SAME THING,"Mary Poppins"! And instantly I thought "BOY am I OLD"! BUt it sure was MAGICAL when I saw it as a child. Joan

Mary Poppins...it is still something my mother and I enjoy together and continues to make very special memories.

Second would be Cinderella, a wonderful love story with the cutest mice!

Hey Joan S. I am a Joan too!:goodvibes
Although I loved Mary Poppins as a kid my favorite Disney movie is the Lion King!
It just reminds me of my Dad. He is still around but I don't live very close and that movie reminds me that he is never far away in my heart!:)
:yay:

Definitely Cinderella for me... I have always been that Girly girl who loves wearing dresses.. And I always wanted to ride the coach. When I was little I wanted that fairytale wedding... And Dreams Really do Come True.. I am getting married at Disney next year and having the Coach as my transportation..living my little girl dream!!!!:cutie:

Just as so many little girls love the Disney Princesses today, Cinderella was it for my sisters and I growing up. We dreamed of poofy long dresses and glass slippers just like hers. We saw the movie at a drive-in one 4th of July, and to this day, at least 45 yrs later, we call the type of firework that cascades down after opening "Cinderella Dresses".

Another Joan

Congratulations, DisneyFairy19! That is so exciting! Do me a favor. I am marrying my girlfriend of 3 years in 22 days. We are going to WDW for the honeymoon, although she doesn't know it yet. Since you love Tinker Bell, how about sprinkling some pixie dust for me? Good luck with your little girl dreams!

The summer I got married was the year Lion King came out - we loved that movie and saw it 4 times - kept taking other people's kids as an excuse to go again! "Can You Feel the Love Tonight" was a special song for us.

My son fell in love with the Mary Poppins movie when it came out for its 40th anniversary. I had never really paid attention to it before but after watching again and again with him, the messages about what kids are looking for from their parents vs. the expectations parents have of them really came through. I understand why "Feed the Birds, Tuppence a Bag" was Walt Disney's favourite song and why he said "that's what IT'S all about." And my son tends to sing the "Let's Go Fly a Kite!" song when we're off to do a fun mom and son activity.

So now Mary Poppins is my favourite Disney film and I would say most influential. I recommend every parent to buy and really sit down and watch the movie, again and again, with their children to remind themselves how fleeting and magical childhood really is. Pay special attention to what Dick vanDyke tells the father while he's cleaning the chimney! That scene really hits home!

In early November, 1989 I was a senior in high school, and for our second date this girl wanted to go see The Little Mermaid. We have been married for almost 12 years and out two sons still don’t get why mom and dad keep trying to get them to watch Little Mermaid.

Additionally, as a child 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea fascinated me and motivated me to learn as much as I could about the ocean. I went on to study marine biology in college and even though I didn’t earn my degree in that field, I have a true passion for it. I will be doing the divequest at Epcot for the first time on our next visit.

P.S. the first date was dinner at McDonalds and the movie Eric the Viking. I am still amazed she said yes to a second date.

Thinking back to when I was just a boy (1960's) and watching The Wonderful World of Disney on my Grandmother's COLOR TV(some of you know how special that was!;) ), almost every week was a treat. The one show/movie I loved (and can never find anywhere) is "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow". Just the story and the spooky :scared1: aspect of it facinated me! Hopefully Disney will dig that one out of the vault for Halloween this year for the Disney Channel!

I really loved Lady and the Tramp, it was such an adorable movie and great story- that it showed me how Disney really shows magic through animals. My second choice would have to be Beauty and the Beast.

Mine is the Mickey Mouse Club from the 90's. I watched the show from the first day to the last day. I was so heartbroken when it went off the air. It helped me get through junior & senior high school. It sounds silly, is what made me love Disney. It still makes me smile whenever I see a mouseketeer from the show on TV or in a movie. :)

Beauty and the Beast. It's such a beautiful story. Hearing the music makes me tear up!:goodvibes
