Inflated wait times

Went to the MK today (Saturday, 2/19). Wandered around a while. Did the People Mover. Wandered some more. Eventually got to Haunted Mansion at 10:00 AM. As we walked up the CM at the entrance to the standby line was updating the board to say the wait was 40 minutes from that point. We had nothing better to do so we went in anyway. 20 minutes later we had completed the attraction and were walking out the exit.

Not unusual at all. No idea WHY Disney does it but it often happens from our experience. We enjoy getting on those “long wait time” posted signs the last hour before park closing. Notoriously known to get on the ride in 1/2 the posted time.

There today as well. The Tomorrowland speedway was about 10 minutes shorter than listed, but meeting the princesses took longer or the same than what was posted
