Inflatable Yard Art - Yes or No?

Inflatable Art - Yes or No?

  • I think they're festive and put them out myself!

  • They are okay for others but not my style

  • Eh, no. I would rather something more elegant

  • I'm still not sure... that snowglobe really IS sorta cute!

Aw, the lovely "are blown up lawn ornaments tacky or clever" question! Holidays are coming and I've already spotted gigantic blown up pumpkins in my neighborhood. I'm sure the blown up turkeys are next followed by the snowglobe that blows snow that I'm sure will be a huge hit this year.

In your honest opinion, yeah or nay? Do you cringe when the neighbor starts to blow up their decorations each year? Or do you have a collection just waiting to be put out yourself?

I like more subtle christmas decorations personally.

If one neighbor puts it up, I don't cringe...if they all did, I would.

I posted about this a few weeks ago, got no response!

I'm debating whether to get the Mickey blow up. I'm wondering how much work they are!

I have to say that I cringe a bit... I much prefer the more elegant and "classic" holiday decor. Plus I don't think I could afford the electricity to keep that thing blown up every night!

They are getting more unique, though. That snowglobe really is sorta cool - in someone else's yard, of course ;)

DH was wanting a big snowman we saw at Sam's Club the other day. Then, he saw the look on my face, and said, "Hmm...I guess that's a no, huh?" I can just see it coming loose and blowing around the neighborhood with us in hot pursuit. Plus, it bore a distinct resemblence to the Sta-Puft Marshmallow Man. :teeth:

My son has begged for the big blow up snowman or santa for years. SO last year I found them marked down for $10
I plan to put it in the back yard (which butts up to a large woods) so he can see them outside HIS bedroom window!
I personally don't like them at all! But to see how excited he gets when he sees them...welll what is a mom to do...but spread that Christmas joy!

I think they are cute! I like the ones that have lights inside, too. But, just like Christmas lights....they should not be left up all year long!! Just up long enough for the Holiday!

we have several.. we tie one down to the old car we keep up on concrete blocks in the front yard ... i think thats the tree one, we put that big santa clause up on the roof last yera but all that rope made him look funny. the penguin sits on the deck next to the above ground pool in the yard with t he catfish in it,

( just kidding, we do have sevearl of the inflatables, secret likes them, or did, and they are actually cheeper than the 100,000 light bulbs we put out each year.

That snowglobe one is kinda cool, but I just don't like these things overall. They are tacky looking IMHO. I bet Clark Griswald would definately have some of those in his yard! ;)

There is a house in Muskogee, Oklahoma that, during Christmas, has literally dozens - if not over a hundred - inflatables in his yard. In fact, I think they have spilled over into his neighbors' yards as well.

I think this particular person is a distributer for the inflatables.

I think some of them are really cool. There are many, many different kinds - ranging from traditional to funny. There are a lot of Disney related inflatables.

I have seen the website that has pictures of this particular house, but can't recall what the website is right off hand...

Edit: Found it......

Here is one picture:

I think they are festive! I dont have any on our lawn but I enjoy seeing them on others lawns.

Sorry, but they look tacky to me. Especially when they blow over.

My husband and son adore them! ADORE THEM~~~~~

I've threatened boycott if my DH buys one! No food, no laundry, no nuthin'!

We ain't gettin' one..... :rotfl2:

I'm so thankful he's not my neighbor - we'd have words over that!

We don't own any, but I certainly don't mind seeing other people put them up. They're a fun decoration IMHO. One thing, though...why do people let these ornaments go into a heap on the lawn for a good part of the day? They don't look decorative if they're not blown up!
