Infant on the Safari at AK?

As a woman in your 40's, you are able to support your head. A 7 week old newborn is not. I would never consider the possibility of taking a newborn on the Safari.

I took a 4 mos old on it, I know that's different than a 7 wk old but if yo'u re carrying her in a sling I would have no problem. Support her head with your hand and hold her against your chest. You should be fine. There isn't even a lap bar....

There is no restriction on handheld infants on the safari...

Well, there is one... you're not allowed to dangle the infant outside the vehicle to lure the lions closer to the truck...

There is no restriction on handheld infants on the safari, however make sure your son and daughter in law are comfortable with you taking their newborn onto the ride.

We aren't taking my first daughter until she is almost 1 (she is 5 months now). I'm not sure if I would have taken her on the safari at 7 weeks. I definitely wouldn't have been comfortable with my parents taking her alone, no matter how much I love them and knowing how "experienced" they are. It could be a sensitive subject all around.

I agree...I took our DD on at 8 months, and while we were confident in taking her on and she was fine, I was definitely very very aware of the bumpiness (she couldn't sit independently yet and we had her in a carrier). I would not feel comfortable bringing a 7 week old on the ride at all.

I would have no problem taking a baby on this ride, especially since the baby will be in a wrap.

However, unless the others are planning on going on Everest multiple times I would just watch the monkeys near Everest for a few minutes. Y the time you walk over to the safari the others will be done with their ride ans will end up waiting quite a while for you to finish.

I think the one ride I wouldn't take a baby that small on is Toy Story Mania. The cars spin/jerk you around so hard.

But with a hand on the baby's body and a hand on the neck/head area, you are now unable to brace yourself in case of a sudden stop. A wrap, as previously mentioned, would help, but those ride vehicles sometimes have to slam on the brakes if a free roaming animal gets frisky and gallops onto the road.

It is the OP's son and daughter-in-laws call, not mine. Taking a 7 week old infant who is unable to support their head on a bumpy and unpredictable ride is not something I am willing to risk. YMMV I've ridden the safari numerous times and every single time have needed to brace myself from crashing into the person next to me or lurching forward.

We took our DS on when he was in my belly, and then again when he was 3 months old. I had him in his Ergo carrier so he was pretty secure!

I have countless trips, however this will be the first time with an infant to Animal Kingdom. Our son and daughter in law will be going on Expedition Everest, which I don't ride. I am hoping I can take my 7 week old granddaughter on the Safari. Yes I know it can be bumpy, and we have talked with the dr. who is very familiar with the ride and she says its ok. Are there any restrictions for infants to ride by Disney?

We've taken babies on it at 3 and 4 months, however we went a couple years ago with my 7 week old and I chose not to take her. - Do I think that it would have ended badly if I did, no, but I just didn't feel comfortable with it as it is really bumpy and they're so little at that age. I think you'll probably be fine either way as long as you're super careful and plan on using your muscles to hold the baby in place, but I will say that I'm a pretty laid back parent as far as rides, but I just felt like it was too bumpy for a 7 week old.

We took a 6 month old years ago. It was ok but one parent needs to be mostly focused on the kiddo. I know that seems obvious, but it's not just the bumpiness, it's the sudden lurching stops. With no seat belts even an adult will lurch forward. There is a padded bar but that's not going to help an infant. I still think it's ok, but hold on tight and let the other adult handle everything else (pictures, bags, other kids, etc).

Actually, at the time, if my head had jerked forcefully in any direction, I would have been taken to the hospital immediately. I have a broken neck and any forceful jerking means a trip to the hospital. That means if I fall down and land on my hands and knees and my head jerks forward, I go to the hospital. Yes, I can support my head but there are many times I can't because I don't control it. I am actually less supported on the Safari as a seven week old because they have someone supporting their head - I don't.

We took our 10-month old on it. He Was strapped to me in the carrier very supported. He had just fallen asleep, though, and we were in the back of the car. Very bumpy, it was the only time on the entire trip he cried. And did he wail. I was aware of every bump and with a screaming child, it was super stressful.

I'm not sure I would do that again with a baby that small.

I would not have taken my 7 week old on the Safari. I would definitely not take someone else's 7 week on on the Safari, even if they were ok with it. Nope.
