Infant "carrier" seat for 4 month old?

When we were there with a 4 mo old we did not use the infant car seat. She sat fine in the front seat of the Joovy Caboose. I did have an infant head rest to keep her neck at a better angle when she napped. She was also in the bjorn a lot. I liked using the bjorn as much as possible so we weren't constantly putting her in and out of the stroller to do attractions.

We just couldn't imagine juggling one more thing on and off the busses, so we did not even try. 4 mo old baby, 3 year old big sis and grandma on a scooter was almost too much for us mere mortals to handle.

Like I was saying, the Joovy worked fine, but I think an umbrella stroller (with a hammock like seat) may have been even better, or a stroller with a fully reclining seat. But since we had a 3 year old along, the sit n stand style stroller worked better all around. Once or twice the 3 year old fell asleep. So, then the baby was in the bjorn, well except for the day she pooped on it :scared: But that is another story.

Thank you so much for all the replies! They helped us a lot. We will plan on leaving the infant seat at the hotel. I think, depending on the plans for the day, we will either bring two strollers for the two children or just a sling and stroller.

(For those who are interested, we looked at several sit&stands and while I love the idea of them, I don't think they'll work well for us. We then seriously considered the Pliko P3, but since DS can't stand on the bar when the front seat is reclined, that was out. We finally decided to go with a Mac Quest, which they can take turns in on days we bring one stroller and which we'll use along with our cheap-o umbrella the days we want two strollers. My DH is sooooo glad that we don't need to talk about it anymore! :rotfl: )

Thanks for all the input on this thread... we're off for our 1st trip in March with our boys who will be 6, 3 and 6 months by then. It's been useful to read all of your information. I think we'll take the sling, baby bjorn, and our decent stroller -I'm thinking of getting a buggyboard to attach to the back so my middle son can catch a ride if the baby's in the stroller.
