My dd will be 8-9 months old (she'll turn 9 months a few days before leaving) when we go for our trip in February. I have a sling for her, but was looking around to maybe get one of the backpack carriers for her, too. There is no way dh will ever wear a sling, so I'm looking for something he'll wear plus she might prefer it.

If anyone has a recommendation for me, I'd love to hear it! Thanks!!!

My friend has a Kelty & they hike in it.

I can tell you I have a 8 month old now & she is the heaviest out of my 3 at this age & just wearing her in the bjorn kills me & that is only for about an hour.

Just last week I had her in it for dd's book fair at her elementary school. I couldn't wait to get out to my car & put her in the stroller to go for a walk with her & ds.

I do suggest before you buy one try it on. What suits one person may not suit another.

Go to BRU with your dd & try her in every one that they have.

I'd vote for an ergo, patapum or a beco (although someone here recently had an issue with her beco). They are all 3 excellent carriers. They are super easy to use, light weight and super duper comfy. I got my patapum when my ds was about 10 mos old and love it!!! It is so amazing how comfy it is. The ergo and the beco are very similar. I have a beco and LOVE it. You can get them is gorgeous prints and in dh friendly prints as well.

The difference between these and what you will find at bru is that they are not framed backpack carriers so they are much lighter weight and (imo) more comfy.

I love, love, love my Ergo. My dd is 2, and we will still be bringing it with us, just in case. I never would have survived her eye teeth coming in at 18 months without it. For 2 days straight, she wanted to be held. The first day was the day of my brother's wedding, and I didn't have the carrier with me. I can't tell you how sore my hip was from having her on it alllllll day. The next day, I was home with her and she wanted to be held. It was no problem with the Ergo. She even slept in it (I wore her on the front when she was asleep) while we were on It's a Small World. It really does put her weight on my hips and doesn't pull on my shoulders and neck. I have a bad back and neck from a car accident, so that is important for me.

Thanks for all the recommendations! I agree about the Bjorn- I was only able to wear my sons in it when they were small. After they reached a certain weight, it became unbearable to wear them in it for long! Dd is my petite baby, so hopefully she's not too uncomfortable to wear. I wore ds#2 in a sling on my hip during our first trip to WDW when he was 15 months and it wasn't too bad, but it got annoying at points because he was getting heavy and he preferred being held (and dh won't wear the sling!)

Thanks again!

I love my ring sling and carry my ds on my hip a lot. However, you will be amazed at how comfy a more structured carrier is when you carry them a long time. The difference is great. I love my sling, but when I need to carry my ds for a long time, I go with a structured back carrier!

I recently got an Ergo for my ds 24lbs, 22months...it's great. Check some of the sites because I got mine from attatchedtobaby.com and they have a 30day return policy for this carrier--it was so great to know if I didn't like it I could send it back--but it's a keeper!!! Did you say you are taking your ring sling too?! I would with a little one like that because there's so much up and down at disney and the sling is great for quick in and outs like that...

I have a Snugli which can be used on the back, though I never have. For our trip, I made a Moby-style wrap and I'm going to make a Asian Baby Carrier, since Russ doesn't like to be carried all that often. Easier to pack those two than the Sungli.

I'm bringing a Beco and a Sling. I usually use my Baby Hawk Mei Tai, but with all the up and down I don't want to have to deal with straps, so the Beco will let me have the carrier on with DS out of it, and the sling is just so easy, though not quite as comfortable for long carries.
