We are thinking of taking our DD (9) to a water park during our trip. We also have a (then) 9month old DD. I don't know if it's a good idea or not. Can we do anything w/ her there? Tell my your experiences w/ a baby in the waterparks. TIA

We have not actually done a waterpark with DD yet but we went and looked at a non DW water park last week and decided against it (and DD is a walking/running toddler). I have a feeling the only things you might be able to do would be the lazy river and maybe hang out in a pool with her. She would obviously be free but one parent would have to miss out on pretty much everything in the park to hang out with her for the day. Maybe your older DD would be just as happy with the resort pool?

Its really not that much fun with a baby. I hung out at the resort once when my dd was 1 and let dh take my older 2 boys. I didn't mind missing out b/c waterslides scare me lol

We did it last month at a non disney water park (Splash Country in TN) with my neice, she is 8 months and it went well, BUT we had lots of help. It was me & DH, SIL & BIL, MIL & 13 yr old neice plus the kiddoa (8,7,5, & 4). We basically would take turns with an adult or two staying with the baby in the lazy river, one of the water playgrounds with shallow water that she could sit and splash in, or under an umbrella with her in her stroller. It was HOT so we took her in the water often to keep her cool (when she wasn't napping). She is an angelic baby and rarely cries and is very patient (will sit for a long time w/out a peep and just play alone), so we could just be lucky. Now if it had just been me and DH w/ the baby there is no way we would do that, it just wouldn't be worth it.

I brought my 6-month-old last spring and it was fine. She liked sitting in the shallow area and other than that I put her in the Bjorn and went wading in the wave pool while my husband took the big kids on the slides. Doesn't Mommy always get left with the baby ;)

If your baby likes the pool at home, he/she will like it at Disney just as much!

She's fine w/ the resort pool. However we have 2 "relaxing" unplanned days and DH told her maybe we would go to TL. She is a mermaid and LOVES the water. She has always wanted to go to one of the water parks.

I love water parks but figure I'd be w/ the baby doing something else.

Our little one is quite happy as well. She LOVES the water. We have an inground pool and she plays in it everyday. So that wouldn't be a problem. I just don't think I'd enjoy sitting in the shallow end of the pool for hours.

Of course the MOM is ALWAYS left w/ the baby. No matter where we are!

Thanks for the help. I think maybe I'll let them go and save the $ from me going and just play in the resort pool w/ the baby. Maybe head to DTD w/ the $ I save from my ticket and shop! :woohoo:

Following this as we are heading down the end of August with our DD, 7 years by then, and DS, 10 months by then. While we have been to WDW many times, we have never done a waterpark. As this is our second trip this year, :goodvibes, we decided to try out TL. Our daughter will love it I'm sure, but I was also wondering how many areas there are that our son, and my wife, will be able to at least "hang out" in.

My wife doesn't mind, as she HATES slides etc., but still, doesn't want to be just stuck on the lounge chair or towel all day. Our DS does LOVE water, and you generally can't get him out of it. We take him to a local water park here in PA, and he loves the kids area that has mushrooms, fountains etc., so we are hoping there is stuff like this at TL as well!

P.S. We are choosing TL as we heard it is a bit better for younger kids.

Some rules and advice.

If you bring a child in diapers, swim diapers are mandatory.

There are a lot of kiddie areas with very low water levels.

You can borrow a life vest for the child at no charge at many locations.

For the lazy river only, you can bring a special infant swim ring; this looks like a normal ring but is filled in with a cloth-like material across the open part, and it has two leg holes so the infant can sit up.

I didn't know that about the lazy river. Thanks. I am bringing her swim ring for the hotel pool. I LOVE the lazt river and wouldn't mind going round for a few hours. I haven't been to TL in 9 years. Does the lazy river have any "rough" spots? In the one near our house there is a "wave pool" part that I couldn't allow her to float in her to floatie. I'd have to pick her up and have her on my lap. TIA

Regarding the swim ring; I'm assuming you have to bring your own, or are they available at the WP's as well?

There are no "rapids" in either park lazy river.

I have never checked at any of the stores to see if they are sold there.
