Can you Florida vets out there tell me a few things DH can do while we are on the coast for 5 days.

We plan a trip to John's Pass and I know he would like a boat ride of some kind but that is all I know...

I have been there before but that was when I was a teenager in the 80's...(I'm sooo old...:( )

If anyone would like to help me out, I would appreciate it very much.::yes::

Here are a few things I have picked up from previous visits (with the text from the official website www.floridasbeach.com);

Suncoast Seabird Sanctuary
This is the nation's largest non-profit wild bird hospital where hundreds of birds are rescued and released into the wild.

Fort De Soto
True to a beach that has been ranked the seventh best in the United States, Fort De Soto Park offers 900 unspoiled acres and seven miles of beaches. A unique area made up of five islands, the park features a fort built during the Spanish-American War on the largest of the islands, Mullet Key. Two fishing piers, camping areas, a concession stand, bathroom facilities and covered picnic shelters are available. Fort De Soto Park also offers a popular biking and skating trail as well as rental facilities for canoes, kayaks and bicycles. There is an 85 cents toll on the bridges leading into the park.

Caladesi Island
Caladesi Island State Park
#1 Causeway Blvd
Dunedin, FL 34698

Accessible only by boat, this is one of the state’s few remaining undisturbed barrier islands and one of the nation's top-ranked beaches. Caladesi is ideal for swimming, shelling, fishing, picnics, diving and nature study.
(As good as it sounds - just beautiful!)

We enjoyed the Sunset Festival at the Pier in Clearwater Beach. People selling things set up on the pier and there is music and magic acts at the end of the pier. Also a playground for the kids and of course the beach. There are also plenty of restuarants and shops within walking distance. Go to the Island Way Grill for the early bird special.(you'll have to drive I think from the pier it may be too far to walk) It is a white linen restuarant with very good food(we dressed casual, not too beachy) You get all your courses including salad, bev and dessert for around $9.95. Its owned by a former Dolphin football player. After early bird its very expensive.
My family mostly enjoys the beach at St. Pete's. We like to walk to The Seaside Cafe for breakfast on the beach.
We did do the Dolphin watch boat ride this time and I thought it was fun but the kids thought it was only so so.
I read about and Eco tour boat ride where the captain jumps in and scoops up sealife for the kids to examine. I plan on checking it out our next trip. It is on the way to Sarasota but the name escapes me at the moment. Maybe someone else will know and I will try to find it.
