Inexpensive "souvenirs" to buy ahead.

Is it called a Jukebox? Haven't been to Toys R Us lately, can you tell? Do you know who makes it?

Oh yeah, I almost forgot, you can also do some printable activities like puzzles and journals. For more on this check this out ! Mickey

KIDCLIP PLAYERS:

check out Target clearance...I bought my DD a player, with one clip at Target for $4.99....now I wish I had bought more....

I need to find some more clips though....

I am super cheap  and like to shop at Value Village/Salvation Army. I find the McDonalds Happy Meal toys from Disney Movies as well as other small Disney toys often. I can usually get them in a snadwich bag size full for a $1 or $2. These make quick, cheap gifts and the plastic ones can go in the washing machine for a quick clean up. I also look here for T shirts etc. and on our trips have managed an entire wardrobe of Disney stuff for under $20 each. Since we live in Alaska we needed the shorts etc. for a trip to Florida or California since we each had like 2 total.

I also get the Disney foods for snacks. There are fruit snacks, juice boxes, graham crackers, etc. This is great because they are dual purpose snack AND souvenier! LOL!

For older kids I would look for a cool fanny pack or back pack, water bottles, sunglasses and a camera and film of their own. You can always customize things with Disney stickers.

Laura: Hasbro/Tiger Electornics made them, they have a retro style player (kind of like a TV) and a Jukebox style. They are called Dsiney Kidclip Players. Our ToysRus still have the clips but not the players. Haven't seen any at Target since right after Christmas, guess it depends on how well they sold. I check all the time because I'm still looking for the Mary Poppins clips!

I have a rubbermaid tub that I add things to when I find them on sale. I have many of the things that were already mentioned but I also try to think outside the box a little bit. Since we are staying at ASMo for part of this trip I found popcorn boxes on clearance at Target that I will use to hold their daily suprises. I also found some little animals that hang off the side of drinks to use for part of our AKL stay.

I scout the clearance sections of any store I am in and usually pick things up for under $1. Check out the birthday isle for small items. They are always changing these and the old ones go on clearance. I have found lots of things at the Dollar store as well.

There are TONS of great ideas here! I've done very well with "stocking up" during TDS sales, especially those light chasers and little fans. I also bought the DISNEY logo shirts online, and the Dollar Store glow things. I bought two journals for my DDs from the Dollar Store, along with stickers, and I cut up 4 Disney Catalogs to paste pictures throughout the journals. I thought that they could use them as autograph books, too.

I am hoping that the WDW outlets will still have some of the 100 YOM stuff when we go this August. Last year it seemed weird to me to buy a souvenir from a year that I didn't actually go to WDW. I won't have that problem this year! I just have to restrain myself from the shirts at the Disney Store before we get to WDW.....:D Can't wait!!

We found lots of 100 yom items at the disney outlet stores, and there was no date so my kids didn't really care! We found the fiber optic pooh lights at the lake buena vista store for .99 (with batteries). We also went to the 2 at beltz outlet mall and found lots of goodies for far less than at the parks.

Great ideas, everyone! I just wanted to add that I've had really good luck getting Disney items at garage sales this summer. Many of the items are brand new! Here's a sample of what I've found: WDW fanny pack, Pocahontas sticker album, Disney pencils, lots of stickers, M. Mouse tattoos, M. Mouse headband, Disney characters diary, WDW and character clothes in great condition, coloring books, story books, Cindy colorforms, Dalmatians writing tablet and Dalmatians folders to hold coloring pages, etc. etc. It's been so much fun finding things, and the best part is that it's cost me next to nothing! :jester:

The Disney Store had the Magic Wash Cloths on 75% yesterday for 62c--got nine but I'll have to go back for more (great souvies for friends and fam).
Wanted a Dorie one for myself for when we go, but she's FULL PRICE because she's of course part of the Nemo stuff.

Also got a thick Princess pink pin--looked like Aurora (she's my fave)--99c
I took it home and thought it was broke, but you gotta open the bottom part and push the ink part down for it to come out--no biggie
I wanted to use this for autograph books at the parks, but it's already found a home in my purse :) Hope I can keep ahold of it til October!

Kid Clip was 2.99 at 75%--now I just gotta find a player

We just got back from wdw on June 3. It was my dream vacation, 11 days at the Poly! For over 5 months anytime I ran across disney merchandise on sale I stashed it in a really large suitcase. I had enough sale merchandise for a nice gift for each of my two dd's on each morning of our trip. The girls loved getting up each day to see their suprises! Bringing the suitcase on the plane was a breeze plus it had enough room to put the souvenir cups we purchased while in wdw. While we were there I really tried to fight my nature to shop. I thought I would resist shopping temptation by looking for good deals while in wdw (you know the place where the water bottle fans are $ 17.00!!!) I casually asked a store clerk if they had anything on sale, lo and behold they did! In each shop I ran across an average of three items marked down atleast 50% if not more! I bought some Christmas gifts for 80% off! The weird thing was that identical merchandise in different stores was not always marked down! At first I felt weird asking sales clerks for sale merchandise (usually it was not well marked, if at all) the clerks seemed to enjoy helping me get good deals, they were actively helping me shop! I don't get that type of service at home!

Have you been peeking in my hall closet?? ;) My Rubbermaid is pretty full right now!

Thanks, ceecee for the Kidclips info. I was at Target today and didn't see any players. I will have to check Toys R Us...

powellrj - thanks for the update on the 100 YOM stuff at the outlets. I hope that you saved a few things for us!!:D

I have gotten t-shirts and sweatshirts for my 2 dd's for our upcoming trip. I've also stocked up on light chasers, eeyore fans, magic washclothes, princess pens etc all at the Disney store sale. We are driving to WDW in November and we found that if we give a little "surprise" for each state we go through, it keeps the kids occupied and helps the 10yo with her geography.

:) Got my rubbermaid in the hall closet overstuffing now too :)

If y'all could give me a price for the ToysRUs clip player I'd be very grateful!

Went to a dollar store recently and found the portable battery fans for a buck (got four) and an over-the-door shoe rack for toiletries when we go as well

We have a regular kid clip player here at home, does anyone know if the Disney kid clips will work in them? Or does it have to be the Disney Kid Clip Player. Now say that three times fast.LOL

Sounding like something my girls would like. If only it would work...

I casually asked a store clerk if they had anything on sale, lo and behold they did!

We were told that there's a certain cents price Disney uses if something is on sale......I think its any item that ends in $.99. If you still have your receipts you could check.

My favorite WDW theme park is Animal Kingdom because it's interesting and i'm obsessed with all the animals they have
there. And i'm kind of an animal science nut.

This worked out great for us as we went in 2001 a blah year,no celibrates or special themes. But I was able to purchase 2000 dated shirts!! Milleniem Shirts!!! At the outlets!!

Today I picked up at Target a package of small zoo animals on sale for $0.24 (regular $0.99). They will make a good souvenir for the Animal Kingdom. There are about 12 animals with 2 trees & 2 rocks. They are suggested for kids 3 & up. I also bought a pen that hangs around the neck & the the other end has a wand to blow bubbles with. It was $0.49. It will come in handy for autographs & to help entertain the gs while waiting in line. Both were from the "Double Dipp'n Fun" line that Target carries.

bzlady2--Welcome!! Glad to have you on board! :D

I'm making a run to Target later this week for school supplies and thought I'd check out that Double Dippin' fun line that you were talking about. What Dept. is that in--Toys or somewhere else?
