Looking for some short getaway ideas for me & DH, just for 2 nights in either of the following states:
MA
VT
NH
ME
CT

Trying to keep the hotel budget to no more than $250/night.

Ideas? We just want to relax in a nice hotel room, maybe be near a cute town to explore, pretty views from the room would be a nice bonus.

Thanks!

Ogunquit, Maine...we've only stayed at a place that caters to those traveling with dogs, but there are SO many nice places.

I second North Conway NH. There are a ton of hotels and cute little shops in the center of town and lots of restaurants to choose from and a ton of stuff to see and do. We were there a couple weeks ago and we took a ride through the notches and stopped at the Mount Washington hotel to check it out and went on a tour. There are also outlets if you are into shopping.

Portland ME - we stay at the Regency, but that's pricey. There are other less expensive hotels in the area though.

Salem MA - a few hotels there, and you can check out Marblehead while you are there.

All of these are great. I would also add Stowe, VT to the list.

Another fun getaway is Foxwoods or Mohegan Casinos. Even if you don't gamble...which we really don't, they have great spas you can get daypasses to with nice solarium pool areas with hot tubs and steam rooms and saunas. You can order room service to the pool area, then go walk around the casinos and shops and see a show, go bowling, play the nickel slots, go shopping, etc. It's nice in the winter because it's all inside if the weather is awful.

Yes they do. I vote Mystic also. We love it there, shopping, an aquarium, close to 2 casinos.

My DGD interns at teh Aquarium every other Saturday. My DD abd DSIL take her and they spend the day. They love the movie theater in the little shopping area next to Mystic Aquarium. It has two screens, and in one serves food, while the other has beer and wine, although they continually talk about "real butter" on thee freshly popped popcorn.

There are little restaurants and so many shops to explore. And of course the Aquarium.

Bar Harbor, ME - Acadia National Park
Gorgeous views - relaxing
Going there again this summer

We are going to Bar Harbor this summer. I haven't been since 2003. Where do you stay? Right now we are booked at the Harborside, but it's expensive. I'm looking for other options.

Portsmouth, NH. You can stay downtown fairly affordably so you can walk to all the restaurants, shops, bars. I love Portsmouth! If you are there in the summer, check out what's happening at Prescott Park. It's lots of fun to take folding chairs and supper over and then stay for whatever play or musical event is happening. There's also Strawbery Banke, steamships out to the Isles of Shoals, and other stuff to do. It's easy to get to Kittery (outlet malls- and some really good food in the "Kittery Foreside" area- this is now what used to be the old in-town area)), York (Nubble Lighthouse, great beaches) and Ogunquit (art galleries, Ogunquit Playhouse, shops, etc.). My family lives in York, but DH and I do a mini-getaway to Portsmouth at least once a year!

We have a motorhome and always stay at the Bar Harbor Campground on the ocean right out of Bar Harbor.
