We're leaving for WDW (:worship:) in 26 days, and DM wants to get a portable dvd player for her van.

She's been talking about getting dual, but everything that I've read about those (no matter the brand) that are under $200.00 have bad ratings (second screen not working, etc.)

Does anyone have any recs for a portable DVD player? If it's dual, she's wanting to spend under $175.00; for a single, under $100.00. But, she wants it to be able to mount on the headrest.

I found this one at Best Buy, but I can't find many reviews. Anyone know anything about it?

The RCA and Philips (for the dual) that I've found all seem to have mediocre reviews. And, I haven't had much luck at all with just a single player that you can mount to the headrest.

Help, please! I'm totally lost! We don't have kiddos yet, so I've never shopped for one of these!

I had been shopping around for these and was debating between a dual screen or single screen player. About 2 or 3 years ago, Kohl's had a single screen in their Black Friday sale that was a good deal (turned out it was a FANTASTIC deal as Kohl's took the mail-in rebate amount off at the register and then I was able to send in the mail-in as well!! They ended up costing in the neighborhood of $40 each!!!).

Anyway, I went with the single player as I figured we would only use these infrequently on longer car trips so these will last longer as well as when the girls get older they can now watch different movies at the same time.

These are the two I have and they work great! I've not had any issue with them.

We use the following to mount on in the middle between the two front seat headrests and are really happy with it as it's a breeze to use/store (we got it for $15 or so at a local store):

I have no experience but we are also in the market. Kmart is going to have one on Black Friday under $50. Their ad is in the Black Friday thread.

Unfortunately, that won't help us. There aren't any K-Marts anywhere near us anymore, and we leave the week after Black Friday. :sad2:

The best one we ever had was a Polaroid brand, it lasted for almost 4 years, had a great picture and volume control. Do NOT buy the RCA that Target has, it broke after 1 day, would not read any DVD's. We had a Toshiba from best buy that lasted about a month and the LG brand was crap too.

we got one at wal-mart on black friday years ago. POS. I could never find the receipt and they never had another of the same to exchange it with.

We have one now, a mustek that we picked up at office depot for $80 and had a $20 MiR. No problems with it, we've had it for a few years now. I believe it's a 9 inch screen. Plays anything we throw as it so far.

This is ours:

It does not appear to be available at OD anymore.

We had the polaroid dual screen one too and it lasted about 3 years.

Is it easy to take down. I was thinking this maybe perfect, but i want something that will not be up when we stop at a hotel or to eat. I am referring to the mount to add in the car that is mentioned in the second post.

We have th Philips ones that Target carries. It is one player but has 2 screens. They have been working great. I had the ones from Best Buy and brought them back 5 times before I just got my money back. I know we paid under $200 for the ones at Target and the warranty for 2 years was very reasonable to add. I think sometimes these tvs are hit or miss, so get the warranty. Also, watch when you buy them and get the tablet style they are much easier to change disc in the car then some of the other case bound ones are laptop style.

We have the Polaroid. We have been using it for about 6 years now. It works great!

We have a Polaroid one and we love it! (single screen). Believe it or not they get panned all the time in reviews, I can't understand why.....? I support the Polaroid brand, I'm even thinking about getting one for my DGrandfather when he has to start chemo soon.

The mount just hooks around the metal posts on the headrests. It doesn't have any type of lock or anything. There is a spring/bungy cord that is in the arm that allows it to stretch to fit and then pulls tight to hold. When we stop, it pulls right off and we drop it on the floor and cover it. Takes all of 5 seconds to do.

I highly recommend it to anyone getting a portable DVD player. We are so happy we got it.
