DH called me this morning to have me order it online & I picked it up at the store today. It's a Xmas gift for DD & Is really such a great deal! When I went in there were about 20 waiting to be picked up!

Make sure you get a squaretrade warranty. We always get the cheaper laptops and they do tend to have issues more often. You can use coupon TWTYOFF for 20% off and get a 3 year warranty including accidental damage coverage for only $31.99. They have refunded the full price on 2 laptops for us. Both had cracked screens.

I used my Amex card and they offer all the same warranties on it, plus I earned Jetblue points!!
You're right though, the warranty is worth it. This laptop is replacing a similar one my DS broke the screen on, of course it only had a one year warranty & he broke it a month after it expired!

Yes, I think so. I bought it for DD(13) who will use it mainly for homework assignments. There are 3 other computers in the house (Apple) that she can use if it doesn't do something she needs it to do but I doubt that will be an issue. For the price, I think it's great.

I think it would be great for a 10 year old. I considered it for my 18 year old as its better than the one he has now, but I decided to spend a bit more as I want the new one to be the last laptop I have to buy for him.

If you want something smaller Costco has an acer with an 11.6in screen, 4 gigs of ram, and a 500gig HDD for 249 and they extend the warranty out to 2 years.
