Hi guys, was hoping someone could help steer me in the right direction to begin looking for an inexpensive hotel for a January 2-6 stay. We are going on a Disney Cruise on the 6th, but want to do Universal and some other Disney stuff before the Cruise. We are looking for a no frills hotel that is affordable after all the other stuff we are spending on... any help is appreciated, thanks!

You will get more responses if you list a budget and if you will have a car/rental or will need transportation to the parks. There is a Hampton Inn in Lake Buena Vista that I have seen people post positively about.

I can give more if I know what you are looking for and how many people you need in your party.

hi thanks! there are 3 of us, me, my sister and my niece. I have my own car and as for budget I would like to spend as little as possible without being in a roach trap lol I don't mind being 10-15 minutes away from parks, even further if it saves more money vs gas cost.... thanks!

You might want to look in the DTD area. There's a few good hotels that are reasonably priced. We've stayed at the Clarion Inn on Palm Parkway befor. There was a recent sale that had the nightly rate at $49 which is an awesome deal for the hotel. I think usually it's about $59 or so if you don't book direct?

You will find cheaper hotels along 192 (south of WDW) or on International Drive. However, I have yet to hear from someone who actually enjoyed staying at those dirt cheap hotels. The only thing that comes to mind that I can personally recommed on I-Drive is the Rosen hotels. They are usually also moderately priced though a bit more expensive than the Clarion.

I will second the DTD area as well as the Marriott Village across the street. Also, you might consider Drury Inn, it is right off exit 74, at the turn for Turkey Lake Road, so very convenient to Universal and probably 15 minutes to Disney. They've usually got good discount rates, and they offer a free hot breakfast, free popcorn and soda from 3-10pm, and their "kickback" which is from 5-7pm and serves things like hot dogs, nachos, mac & cheese, chips, veggies and dip, plus adults get 3 free alcoholic drinks in that time frame as well.

Oh, also, in regards to 192 area, I have stayed in a number of those cheap hotels, and the only ones I would consider going back to is the Holiday Inn Maingate East (only stayed in family suites) and the Parc Royale (stayed in 2bedroom), as they were CLEAN, the Parc Royale felt VERY dated, though was spacious and we enjoyed the pool. The rest were dirty, short sheeted, etc.

There are a ton of inexpensive no frill hotels across orlando. Just use whatever travel website you want and take your pick of the litter. When it comes to no frills hotels, there isnt much that distinguishes them apart. :)

The cheapest way to get a decent place is to use priceline or hotwire. Check biddingfortravel.com or betterbidding.com

DS can be a hotel snob. He is a high school coach and for the last 5 years they have stayed at the Baymont in Celebration. The rates are really good, a decent breakfast, they feel the rooms are fine, hotel is safe area etc. He says he would even stay there on his own if looking for low cost room. 192 on the Disney side of I-4.

I would just recommend looking on a hotel travel site, setting your max price, and reading reviews. I've seen hotels for $39 a night. We've only stayed off Disney property a couple times, and that was just on our arrival night. There is a nice Super 8 we used to stay at. It was fairly cheap, and right in the middle of a bunch of restaurants. We haven't stayed there since the late 90's.

Thanks guys!! I found that $49 price from that link, booked 4 nights and am ready to party!! thanks!
