Inexpensive function hall needed!

Are there any state parks in the area? Two of the ones within an hour of us have very nice venues for a few hundred dollars. One was formerly a small restaurant and it still has working fridges along with beautiful wood floors and a stone fireplace. The other was purpose built for rentals and is very roomy.

Do you have a Grange hall? We're in a tiny town in Maine and almost every small Maine town has a Grange hall! I second the church hall idea, as well. (and I'm sorry but I had to laugh when you said you're in the boondocks...in a suburb of Manchester. I'm in rural Maine, in a suburb of...nowhere. Nearest "big" town is Farmington, ME, population 7,000.)

Small town in NH.... a Bon-fire/ Barn party. Maybe just an open field somewhere...with the owner's permission of course or a lake. Any scout halls around that would rent?
