inexpensive/free Ipad apps?

I just got the Ipad2 and I am looking for good games/apps etc for myself and my boys (ages 7,8) that are free or inexpensive. I don't want to buy a game for 5.00 and then have them tell me it is boring.

Angry birds, Angry birds seasons, angry birds rio, pocket frogs are some of the ones the girls play the most. I think they are $.99 each. Mine are a little older but Stack the States and Stack the countries is educational and fun.

While there are some good free apps, you usually have to pay something for the ones which are worthwhile. You might find these useful:

I always get a free version first to try the game before I decide if I want to spend the 99cents to buy the real game with all the levels

My five year old loves Simpsons Arcade, Cut the Rope, Angry Birds and Plants Vs Zombies (which is awesome, but a little more expensive than the rest of the games)

I did also buy NBA Live & Madden NFL, which were both about $8 or $9 each, but my ds plays them so much that it was a great investment. I knew he liked both because he had them for his Nintendo DS first.

Get an app called AppShopper. It will tell you every day what apps have had their price reduced or have been made free for a limited time.
