I spent $275 on my Pliko p3 and the only time we even use it is at Disney. I just don't live in a stroller friendly area.

So I'm thinking of selling it and getting a cheaper double stroller since I'll have a 3yo and infant. But the thought of spending another $300 on a stroller I hardly use is not sounding exciting to me.

So I need a double stroller that isn't going to cost me a fortune. I was thinking something that is an amped up umbrella stroller. Lightweight, but sturdy. Usable for an infant. Easy to maneuver at a mall or Disney.

Any recs?

We have an evenflow that I love that has a step in the back for the bigger one to get in and out however it is still kind of heavy. You and I are in the same predicament where I still have an infant that needs a stroller and an almost three year old who occasionally needs it. We are looking at a double sit and stand for this trip which you could put the older one in the front and the baby in the back and then when the toddler is more ready to walk in about 6 months you take the back seat out and it is a great rest spot for the toddler. That is what I would recommend. I think this time for Disney we are going to look on Craigslist for one and if we don't get that then just rent one.

My three year old only uses his stroller SOME of the time...and generally not when I want him to! He will still nap in it when he's tired so sometimes we suck it up and push it around empty on outtings if sleep might be required!

Have you considered a buggie board for your pliko? Or renting a stroller for disney instead of buying a double just to use there?

Based on what you say your stroller usage is now, I cant see you will get enough use out of a double at home to really make it worth it?

if you want something inexpensive, i totally recommend the jeep wrangler twin sport double stroller... it is a side by side double umbrella stroller, folds up easily and small...

it pushes ok, not spectacular but terrible either... we used it last year at disney with then DS4 and DD2.5 and we are planning on bringing it again this may...

it's like $90 on amazon and $99.99 at target (the website, not sure if in store)...

hope that helps!

Any experience with sit and stand strollers like this Baby Trend Double Sit N Stand Stroller?

Apparently the second seat is removable. :confused3

Or this one also by Baby Trend. It gives us more versatility because when we are on shopping trips, she can get it and out easily by herself.

we have the Jeep double stroller, it's a side by side. Lightweight and folds up, essentially like two single umbrella strollers next to each other. They are easy to manuever and work great even still for my 5 and 3 year olds!

I have alot of trouble with tandom (front/back) strollers - I find them awkward/clunky to maneuver and much prefer the side by side. I would recommend definitely giving one a good push around a store near you before buying!

Depending on your kids weights - the jeep wrangler double umbrella stroller (lower weight limits and lower handles) or the mac twin triumph (check craigslist for these at great prices too!). Your older one would be able to hop out easily from both and when she's not in it you can use the seat for storage etc!

I'm probably not the best person to answer this since I buy every stroller I want to try but if you're used to the push of a Pliko you will want to test drive some doubles if you are able. There's a huge difference in pushing doubles and I can tell you from experiance (our kidlets are 2.5 years apart) nothing can doo doo up a vacation more than your DH offering to chuck the stroller into the lagoon in Epcot cause hte stupid wheels won't turn and that wasn't a cheap stroller it was a Peg Aria double (HATE it). Or having one that cannot be pushed one handed, impedes an beverage intake and that pleases no one. If you need it from brith you need one that will recline fully and the Jeep SBS one's do not, they also don't seem to offer much in the way of sin coverage which is one of my favorite things about our Pliko (when we only DS #1 it was our WDW travel stroller) I know you said you'd like to stay away from the $$$ ones but our favorite doubles especially for WDW are our P&T Sport with doubles kit or our Tike Tech City X3 double. Watch for sales Costco, Albeebaby.com, they run really good deals.

Amy, I can see DH lovin' that Tike Tech City X3 Double. He loves our jogging stroller!

another expensive option, but we have a BOB revolution duo and it is great. Pushes like a dream. Pleanty of storage, shade, and room. Easily pushed one handed, I really wish I would have purchased this one to begin with. I LOVE it!! I would stay away from the Graco ones. We used to have a Graco Quatro tour duo and I liked it at first, but as soon as my little one got bigger (like 6 months old), it got incredibly hard to push, and neither of my kids are chunkers. DS is now 2.5 and only weighs 25 lbs, and dd is 4.5 and weighs 38 lbs. That is now, I sold that stroller when dd was 3 and ds was 1, so they were much lighter then. I probably wouldn't even be able to push it now. The Graco strollers are definately not push friendly.

A friend of mine has a sit and stand and loves hers!

I would love a BOB! But like I said, we don't use them enough to warrant paying so much.

I talked it over with DH and we are leaning toward getting a double jogging stroller (swivel). We bought the InStep Safari for the Princess 5k last year and we really like how easy it is to push. So maybe a double of that one or similar brand. The only issue we have is the canopy - it's basically a joke. But I see that I can buy one to add to it, so maybe I'll try that. I also worry about getting into doorways. I understand 32" is the minimum doorway width, and some of the ones I've looked at are 33" wide. :confused3

Thanks again for the advice. I'm still open to hear other recs!

Once we found out we were having our 2nd baby I found a Graco Duo Glider at a resale. I liked it a lot and the basket was huge but it was very heavy and hard to push with my oldest weighing down the front. Not to mention it only fit in the trunk of my car 1 way and I considered leaving it behind one day because it just wouldn't fit!

Now we have a Peg Perego Aria Twin and I totally love it. I got it on Craigslist. It folds down so small and weighs about 15 pounds. It sits between the 3rd seat and the tailgate in our minivan and is about as wide as the seat itself. It is a bit hard to steer at times when the wheels get turned the other direction. Once I tilt it back and push forward we're back on track. I had to do the same with my tandem at times.

My 2y old and 6m old were a breeze at Disney with the stroller. The seats recline flat so everyone was comfy, it was easy to fold to get on the bus, and I was able to push it from the nursing station over to Innoventions alone while carrying said 6 month old who was sleeping like a rock! The basket held our diaper bag, coats, and a camera bag with no problems.

I don't know if you are opposed to resales but there are so many coming up in the Spring and they always have a TON of strollers. You might luck out at one.

DSister and I have both bought the Maclaren Twin Triumph as a side by side (my 2nd is due to arrive in a few months). DSister's 2 are 3 yrs apart (almost 1 and almost 4 now).

It works well - there's good recline, etc. Easy to push and high weight limits make it usable for a long time.

In terms of price - you can find used on Craigslist and some resale shops at times. I found ours new at HomeGoods for about $150, and DSister used a coupon to get hers for about $190.

Ray Shades are great for sun coverage or adding a universal parasol. Babies R Us had them on clearance for a while at only $4.99 each online. But there are tons of places that have them Shady baby makes some really neat ones.

We just bought the Joovy Caboose and had it shipped to our resort from Amazon (it was 119.99!) Sit n stand, it is AWESOME!!!! Has the carseat carrier attachment on it so if your infant is not old enough to sit in the seat by itself it worked out great.
I had a fisher price one before and highly reccomend this one, folds flat enough it went throught the xray machine at the airport, and it is not the lightest, but decent. the only knock I have is the basket is not that big, and no where to put your drink, u need to buy the cup holders for it.

Have you looked at the graco IPO double... umbrella style... side by side... reclines nearly flat. We only use a single right now... but for added sun cover I use two of those metal binder clip things and add a light covered receiving blanket to block more sun.

I honestly don't know how wide the BOB is, but I assume most double strollers are the same width. I've never had a problem getting through doorways. I've taken it to the mall, the zoo, pretty much everywhere. I do have to hit them straight on because it is a close fit, but it does fit through just fine. The first time we used it I thought there was no way it was going to fit through the doorway, but it does. Doesn't even touch the sides of the doorway, but it is close. Hope that helps.

I have been debating what to get for our trip. I have a Phil& Ted but it's too big for our trip I think. I'm pretty sure I have decided to keep my eye out for a gently used Maclaren Twin Triumph.
