We are not big breakfast eaters. Most of the time, it is just a toaster waffle with peanut butter for my son and coffee for my wife and me. We are staying at CSR and I am wondering if there is a place to pick up a decent muffin/doughnut/pastry or breakfast sandwich on our way to the parks each morning? If there isn't, would it be better to just keep some prepacked muffins and pastries in our room?

I agree that Cafe Rix is a great option for a light, grab and go pastry type breakfast/snack. If saving money is part of the goal, then buying some prepackaged stuff and having it your room would be more economical for sure. You could get a 1/2 dozen muffins/pastry for the cost of one at the Cafe. Probably wouldn't taste quite as good though.

Personally I'd bring some pastries/muffins with you from home and keep them in your room regardless. That way you aren't spending $12-$15 for 3 people each morning (you'd probably only spend a little more than that to buy stuff at home to last you the whole trip) and everyone can eat while they get ready and you won't have to venture into the crowds to snag breakfast. The crowds in some of the QS areas in the morning are pretty unbelievable at times and definitely the main reason we bring ours from home.

Cafe Rix at CSR has a good asst of muffins and pastries. $4-5 per.

We do both. Bring our own and once in a while grab something from the Cafe. CSR has a nice assortment of foods to choose from all day long.

We bring our own breakfast - we eat Cereal, coffee cake and fruit in the room. We do a couple breakfast ADR'S as a treat. We really like Trails End Buffet!

When we fly in we don't rent a car, we use a town car service and they have a free 30 min. grocery stop. We always buy, a case of bottled water, juice, grab and go breakfast food like granola bars, pop tarts, yogurts, bananas etc... We are not big morning eaters so we eat something in the room or take it with us on our way to the park. We almost always have a sit down lunch adr in the parks because we are tired and hungry by noon. Getting off our feet, cooling off in ac and refueling is great.

Sometimes we will do breakfast out on our last day... last trip we stayed at Dolphin and ate at Fresh.

Yes if brekkie is not your big thing bring stuff. I bring doughnuts and granola bars, etc. and then have early lunch in the park..which also sets you up to miss the busier lunch times.
***FYI most if not all of the moderates have micros and toasters in the drink area you can use. You can find this info online to be sure

I think Café Rix is a good option, but it's also a good hike from most of the property. I would have some things in the room otherwise you'll be losing out on time on that walk when you could just hop on a bus and head to the parks.

My dh and I split a bounty platter from the food court at csr a few mornings. It was plenty of food.

We bring our bread (Frozen in a shoe box in My luggage, in the plane) and peanut butter in pill container and We make our morning toasts at the food court in the 4 slices toaster, take the paper Plates They offer and bring a tray to put in. Grab plastic knifes and take coffee in our Disney mugs (include in our package) and enjoy breakfast outside.

When We want more, We share a bounty platter for 2, this thing is huge!

We always pack and bring our breakfast essentials with us to eat in the room. With SWA you get 2 bags free each, so one is always a foodstuff/papergood bag. We pack cereal, paper plates and plastic silverware, instant oatmeal, fruit, granola bars, dried fruit. Has worked out great for us. When we get tired of it, we'll buy breakfast once or twice.

we eat in our room most days:

- cereal/milk (milk can be purchased at resort store, cereal at DVC resorts not sure about the rest?)
- granola bars (we bring from home)
- bagels with cream cheese (we get these at resort store - again would make sense to confirm this is available at all resorts and not just DVC...last month the kids had craisins with us and they added some of those to the top!)

Occasionally we also share/compliment this with a quick service meal or do a character breakfast..it has worked for us!

How do you fix the oatmeal in the room? Do you just heat up the water in the coffee maker?

When considering $4 pastries at a resort food court, I usually just decide to buy something more interesting in the parks, like those mammoth cinnamon rolls with apple-caramel from Gaston's Tavern.

If can fit in the luggage I bring a 4 cup coffee maker, and bring or pick up a cheap toaster. Buying breakfast is so not worth the time and dollars. And the nescafe is so not worth drinking.

Same with us..then space for gifts too

If you aren't big breakfast eaters, your best option may to be to just bring a variety pack of muffins from Costco or Sam's and eat those every morning. Granola or cereal bars are great too. You may end up shelling out a lot of cash you could be using elsewhere on pricey ones at the resort. Otherwise yes your resort's quick service place is your best bet!
