Inexpensive and Fun "care package" to send to Disney

The little girl I babysit is going to Disney World in June with her mom and dad. She's only 4 and this will be her first time there-I'm so excited for her! I want to come up with some fun (and somewhat cheap) things to put into a "care package" she can take with her. They will be flying, so I don't want it to be too big.

This is what I've gotten so far:
-Pink Princess Lanyard (from Micheal's-$1.00)
-Fat Princess Pen for autographs (Micheal's-$1.00)
-Princess Aurora Pin (from eBay- $3.00)
-Cuties Mickey Pin (from eBay-$3.00)
-Pink Princess Wand (from Micheal's-$1.00)
-Fairies Temporary Tattoos (from DMC-free!)

I was thinking of getting her some Disney Dollars and putting together a little first aid kit with Princess band-aids. I also ordered the personalized maps from Disney and picked out the things I think she'll enjoy most.

She's already got a Tinkerbell light-up spinner that I got her the last time I was there-so she's taking that for the parades and fireworks.

What do you take for your little ones that they've really enjoyed?

Are there any books on Disney World for pre-school age children?

Any ideas are greatly appreciated! I want her to have the most wonderful time!

You can go over to the creative Disign board and get a personalized image with her name.. than do an iron on to a t-shirt or a tote bag. T-shirts are $1.99 this week at michaels and they had some of the totes under $3.00. This way she can keep all of her stuff in it.

Target's dollar spot section has princess activity books with stickers inside. They're the size of - oh - like, a ladies' wallet? Maybe 3" by 6"?

I got them for the kids for the airplane. It has seek and finds and mazes, that kind of thing. Or, you can color the picturs.

They have four different varieties (snow white, aurora, belle, and cinderella).

They also have washcloths that you add water to and they puff up (the little cylinders) and Disney socks.

If you have a "Dollar Tree" in your area, they had some Disney crayon packages (3 packs of 8 I think) in different themes. They also have the magic towels, books, etc. that are Disney themed.

I also agree with the previous poster about Target. They had crayons, stickers, and all sorts of things Disney in the bins that range from $1-$2.50.

You might also consider some Princess fruit snacks. If she is on a plane, they can help with the air pressure issues during take off and landing as well as be nice snacks during the trip.

I really like the iron on ideas! I think I'll make her a bag and a shirt to match! The gummies are a great idea too, especially since she's not allowed to chew gum. I've been scoping out the target dollar bins but haven't seen much Disney stuff lately-I'm gonna check out Dollar Tree this weekend.

Any more great ideas? I think I'm going to try and find a mini fan with Disney characters on it, and maybe get some glow sticks for her to hand out to new "friends" during fireworks.

A mini mister fan! I got one at Walmart for $3.00. Kind of fun and a great way to beat the heat.

I second the mister fan...those are $20 at Disney! They have the glow bracelets at Michael's for $1 per tube & they are always a hit and fun to share as well. Maybe some princess hairbows/ponytail holders would be cute too. In the party favors section of Target/Walmart they have princess heart shaped bubble necklaces & the bubbles are a great way for the kids to entertain themselves waiting for parades, lines etc. Also, a reusable water bottle/thermos with any of the characters on it would be a useful and cute treat.

The last time we went "discovered" how much fun the pressed penny machines are. Now we're hooked!

We found directions on the scrapbook board, I believe, that you can make personalized coin holders to take to the parks. You take the plastic mini M&Ms containers that have the attached lid that pops open, take off the label, then put on one of the many adorable labels you can print from that board. It's the perfect size for the pennies and quarters she would need.

It's also affordable - $.33 for the container, print the labels yourself, and then a few dollars in quarters stacked with nice shiny pennies.

Couple of hints: When you load the containers, layer the coins two quarters then a penny so they're easy to use at the machines. Also, don't overload the container, because it gets heavy pretty quick!

Glow stick necklace and wristlets. DS likes to just hold the stick and spin it around. They are a tube for $1!

BTW, it is very nice of you to do this for child you tend.

Just thought of another...

You could include a disposable camera for her to take some of her own pictures of her favorite rides, characters, the airplane, whatever. My girls LOVED having their own camera. You can find them for $3-$5. Totally worth it and lots of fun. We're always surprised at some of the pics they get. Pretty impressive.


You can also usually find a small scrapbook in the dollar bins at Target or Michaels that she could use to put "her" pictures in that she took with her camera. It would be a fun project for her to do once she got back!

I think you've gotten a lot of great suggestions! I pack those things for my boys along with some bubbles (entertaining in lines), something small to play with (I got my boys the little Nemo figurines from the $ store and they played while waiting for the parades/shows to start), autograph book. Maybe you could also help out by making a count down calendar/chain/something to help count down until her time with Mickey. Even something like a cheap disposable camera could be fun (maybe waterproof if they're going to the pool???) so she can show you "her" pictures when they're back. If you're a scrapbooker, you could make her a small album for her pictures as well. The Hallmark store (at least ours) carries Disney princess and Cars photo albums that you just slide the pictures into. They also have very cute inexpensive magnetic frames that she might enjoy once she's back.

Oh, and we picked up Princess & Cars pinwheels at Micheal's too for $1. Dollar Tree had 24 piece puzzles for $1 - Princess, Pooh & Mickey Mouse.

On this same vein.When we went in 2006 I sent a package down ahead of time so it was waiting at BWV when we arrived. I sent non-perishable food as well as Disney gifts that I had bought at home (for pennies on the dollar). I had purchased 'vintage' ears/headband, small stuffed animals, small scrapbook, Monsters Inc charactors, disposable cameras, picture frames... all disney themed and all from yard sales. Every evening when we arrived home from the parks, I would give them each a gift. They loved it and I saved huge amounts of money.

I just want to say how sweet you are!

My dd will be almost 4 and my other dd-8 when we go this year and in addition to many of the things you've listed...I found Tinkerbell, Silvermist, and Mickey & Minnie PEZ dispensers. I plan on leaving a 'surprise' on their pillows each night.

Disney Stickers are a good basket filler. I've also seen Princess cereal bars!

You could print out and put together a passport from the creative designs board. My niece's seemed to enjoy theirs. That makes them hit all the kid stops around the countries and interact with the CM's. Just takes some card stock, printer, time.
