Just wondering if anyone has some thoughts about this...
I am looking for the individual size peanut butter & jelly packets--I has seen them at continental breakfast buffets in hotels before. Does anyone know where to purchase them? On our recent trip, we did breakfast in the room & packed a lunch. I was able to get mayo & mustard packets ( actually, I swiped them from an airport food court:hyper: ). We brought a small jar of PB & J from Publix, but we did not use very much & I brought it home. I have seen orange marmalade & devonshire cream at Cost Plus World Market, along with mayo & mustard bottles( room service size). Any ideas?

Have you tried Sams/Costco? I have not been to either of these in years but I know they often carry things for restaurants, ect.. I know breakfast buffets at hotels always have the little peanut butter and jelly packs, the kind with the "peel back" closures. I love your idea, let us know if you find anything that works.

This post got me thinking! I did a few internet searches and couldn't find anything. These types of packets may only be available for sale through a wholesale food distributor.

Craft stores, like Michaels, sell little ziplock baggies that are about the same size as the condiment packets. They are made for beads, and other small crafting items. Although it would be kind of a pain, you could spoon the peanut butter and jelly into these and make your own packets!

laceemouse, that is EXACTLY what I am looking for...
I know that I have seen jelly packets at Sams but I am hoping not to have to by 500 of them! Thanks for the ideas so far...

If it helps, I know they are made by Smuckers. I love the peanut butter. They have it at the Residence Inn breakfast bar and I remember since I ate a peanut butter bagel every morning!

Found it on their site, but I am doubting you want to buy $50 worth.

Smuckers

You might also try a restaurant supply store. In my area (NYC) there are some called Restaurant Depot. A great idea, btw!

Something you might think about is a tube of peanut butter. Skippy sells this.....kind of like a toothpaste tube, easy to pack, no utensil needed to spread it, you just squeeze it out through the flat slot in the reclosable lid. Also, at POR they had the individual jelly packages in the food court.

I have seen these before, but the Publix near the resorts does not carry it-or they did not have it in stock when I went there a few weeks ago. Also, I am trying to avoid bringing food back home, if I can.

I know Sam's Club has the jelly packets as well as the mayo/mustard & ketchup packets. But you do have to buy the bulk boxes. If you don't have use for that many maybe you can try asking a local Diner/Retaurant if they could possibly sell you an assortment. As long as they are privately owned and not a chain they should have no problem helping you out. I own a restaurant and I have done stuff such as this for local people that may have needed something that only a restaurant could supply. If I used the packets in my restaurant I would have gladly sent you some. However,we don't use them here. Visit your local places and ask, I'm sure you'll succeed. ;)

Do you have a Gordon's food service close by...THey too sell in bulk but sometimes in smaller quanties than Sams..And they are geared more toward the food service industry so they just may have what you are looking for...another option at least for the PB is the skippy sticks...they are actually a snack but you could throw one or two in your bag and they should be good for a couple sandwiches each..don't need a knife and they are actually made to be eaten out of the tube (like gogurt yogurt)

Well, I haven't tried these, but they actually make peanut butter slices now. They seem like they would be terribly convenient, but the whole thought gives me the creeps. I guess they are individually wrapped, like cheese slices. You can check them out, just do a google search for P.B. Slices. Just an idea, a creepy idea, but an idea. :confused3

Our local grocery store Shaw's or Price Chopper carries a box of peanut butter tubes, not the toothpaste type container, but something similar in size to gogurt. You rip the end off and have enough peanut butter for a bagel or sandwich. They are larger then a ketchup packet, but not too large. My dh likes to freeze them and eat them like a popcicle.

Actually if you look at page 2 of the smuckers site you can buy a basket of 3 kinds of jelly(25 each) and 20 peanut butter for $20!!!

The Skippy ones would probably be better though. We buy these alot and my dd loves them for a quick snack.

Hey dani, your post gave me an idea. Since many of us live in Chicagoland, we are in Naperville, maybe some DISser with A LOT of time on there hands could buy these things in bulk at Sam's and we could get together and divide them up, paying back the original purchaser of course. LOL....a new internet interprize!!!! I have seen those slices of PB and J at Jewel, they look gross but kids might eat them. The sqeeze PB might be a good option. We always end up bringing home, or worse throwing away, food after trips too. I like seeing everyone's suggestions on this thread!

The thing with the skippy sticks too is since they are actually made to be a snack then if there is any left , you have a easy to pack snack for the plane (or car) ride home!! :teeth: BTW, the PBJ slices aren't too bad. We get them once in a while for car trips. They're not messy at all. Not quite the PBJ "texture" but will do in a pinch..definitely better than dealing with jars and knives and etc...

Smuckers sells PB&J sandwiches. They are called Uncrustables. They come in either grape or strawberry. There are four to a box and are individually wrapped.

Another thing I've used (for backpacking) is a tube (as described above, but reusable and washable) that can store PB or other squeezable items. REI or somewhere like that would have the tubes.

What great ideas...I have seen the PB skippy tubes...I will have to try them ahead of time of course. I saw the smuckers basket also, and I am considering that. The other option is to swipe some next time I stay at a hotel that has them, or make my DH do it! LOL!
