Indianapolis DIS Meet - Come One Come All!

Hey ADP! This sounds great. Things have been busy and I just found this on the boards.

Count DW (JcDisneyFan) Shawn Hutsell and I (Milford Hutsell) in on the DIS Meet in Indy area.

We used to live in Noblesville and will be moving back within the next two years. We are in Logansport now, DD is in her senior year this fall and we plan to move back to the Noblesville Area.

Looking forward to the meet.

That's fantastic! Looking forward to seeing you as well. I'm working on selecting a location. Now that I have a better idea of the number of attendees I should be able to secure something soon and let all of you know.

I changed my Sunday arrival to Saturday so I should be able to make it too.

Count us in...... Noni and Vic, maybe kids too; I'll figure that out once it gets closer to the date.

Anyone intrested in seeing Wall-E next weekend? I know the DKids want to go.

Awesome! It appears a number of other children will be at the meet. Feel free to bring them along.

I'd love to go and see Wall-E next weekend, but we're remodeling our house and I will be stuck painting and installing flooring all weekend!

I love that our Meet is growing!! Haven't seen Dan since the first Meet we attended...I think that was 2003 maybe.

Aaron, any more thoughts on where yet? Looking forward to it!

Have we "officially" invited any members of the Podcast Team or Dreams Unlimited to visit with us during our meet? I know that was tossed around last week in podcast chat. Winotracy went to the Chicago meet and they all got some cool podcast "loot!" (Not that we wouldn't just want to just spend time with them - it's not all about the loot.) Probably none of them would necessarily want to come to Indy over the holiday weekend - but we could ask.

By the way, I told my husband (non-DIS member, low tech guy, VERY MUCH A DISNEY FAN) that we were doing this and he was very perplexed. "We're going somewhere to meet a bunch of people that we don't know because you all post on that Disney site? Are you kidding me? Doesn't that seem kind of weird?" Be gentle with him, people! We'll bring him along. I just got him used to the fact that we are going on a specific Disney Cruise (May 2009) because lots of people that we don't know are going on it too.

Dodie...my family is the same way! They don't quite get it... DH, thankfully, does though. In his past life (before we got married) he was a member of many online communities. So he understands the whole thing. Kind of...lol...he tolerates it anyway

Funny you should ask. A personal invitation was recently sent to them. I think we all realize that Orlando and Indianapolis are approximately 1000 miles apart, but if any of them decided to join us we'd welcome them with open arms.

Funny you should ask. A personal invitation was recently sent to them. I think we all realize that Orlando and Indianapolis are approximately 1000 miles apart, but if any of them decided to join us we'd welcome them with open arms.

Thanks Kim...I may take you up on that. I communicated with Jennz today who passed along some great ideas for the kids who attend the meet. Right now I'm trying to secure a location which will suit our needs. I hope to post something soon with the location and more details soon.

Not only are Dodie's and my birthday on August 31st, but my DH, Matthew (Rhett972 - doesn't post much though) is exactly one week later! His birthday is September 7th. I love the end of August/early September because of our birthdays as well as our anniversary (September 10th) is all one right after the other...

I've already offered my services for cake/cupcakes...depends on my mood...just holler if there's anything to help with...

My thoughts right now are having a pitch-in to help keep the cost of the event in check. (I'm trying to make the meet cost free, if possible). So everyone attending can bring a covered dish(s). Another reason I like the pitch-in idea is because we can possibly make some Disney dishes. Pull out our Disney recipes and get creative. It will also provide a variety of food for everyone.

I'll provide paper products, cups, utensils, etc and beverages. Because of the number of children and driving distances for some people having alcohol may not be a good idea.

As for the location I'm currently looking for either an indoor public space, or clubhouse type setting which will accommodate all of us. I've got a few places in mind. If anyone has any suggestions for a space like this please send me a PM. I must admit since I'm from Fishers and I'm familiar with the area the meet will probably be on the northside of town. I hope the folks on the southside understand. The last thing I want to do is make it tough for anyone to be able to get to the meet.

I hope everyone likes these ideas.

I am getting really excited about this DIS meet!!! How cool will it be to meet so many people that LOVE Disney as much as I do??? Lots of August Birthdays! My DS7 is going to be 8 on August 16th, not too soon after the DIS meet!! Looks like there will be kids there that are similar in age to mine, so should be fun. Keep us updated on all the details! Thanks so much for putting this together! A great way to end the summer for us! School gets back in sesson on August 13th.
