In your cases, you may get lucky. I've been on the ride plenty of times where the big snake wasn't even working. You could just hear the sounds it makes with no movements.

Thank you very much for this tip. I am *deathly* afraid of snakes and may have fainted if I didn't know this. I was excited about this ride, but I'm not sure I'll be able to go on

I am deathly afraid of snakes as well.
Was attacked by one when younger. however, I go on this ride everytime I am at DL. If possible have someone let you know when coming up and close your eyes! That is what I do and it is a brief sequence before you move on. However, I thought there were some more in the background later - but nothing that freaked me out. And when it comes to snakes it does not take much!

Hope that helps for those wondering. Would hate for that part to keep you off such a great ride. And yes - as others have said it is bumpy!!
