Debt Dumpers 2026

I think that's the way to go as well-and I would use a card that at minimum charges no fee, at best it also pays me back. the basic no fee american express card (blue cash everyday card) has a benefit wherein if you set up your Disney+, Hulu or some kind of ESPN streaming to pay from your card you can get up to a $7 statement credit each month.
I think you need a pretty high credit score to qualify for an Amex card.

Pay every little bit you can to your debt. Seriously, I made payments of $5 at times. It sounds like peanuts but over the course of a year, $5 per week is $260 per year.

I literally just made an $8 payment and a $21 payment on two different cards today just to knock them down a little more. It absolutely adds up!

yeah, not sure what they require but since it's the same card that was the standard issue to costco members when costco had their contract with amex I'm guessing it might not require the higher scores some of their cards do.

According to Google, 670. If I were in his shoes I would just focus on paying down all debt (his car loan interest rate is horribly high) and hold out until his score gets higher and get a card with travel perks. At least then he could be accruing points or miles or whatever to maybe reward themselves with a pre-paid vacation when they're done.

I wouldn't go looking for travel perk based cards if my short term goal was to get out of debt/long term was to save both more than a $1000 emergency fund/work towards saving to get a house. the travel perk cards of any 'value' always seem to come with an associated fee and I hate paying any kind of a fee for a card-the only reason I was recently willing to upgrade on my amex to a fee based was b/c the statement credit offer covered more than 2 years of fees and then the Disney+ monthly credit combined with 3% back by using it to pay for any of my streaming services more than covers it on an annual basis. the 6% back on groceries was the real appeal-i'm letting that pile up and plan to use it annually in November and December when I spend more than I traditionally budget on a monthly basis.

Tomorrow's payday! I'll be paying off the small balance on my Lane Bryant card and paying off a bill for some old traffic fines. 🤦‍♀️ I just got hit with that a couple of weeks ago. They were incurred 8 years ago and I never knew that I owed on them. *sigh* I take full responsibility, but it's annoying because I was going to put that money toward 2 other cards w/small balances that will now have to wait until next month.

On the personal side, my husband and I are going to start walking a few days a week after work, before it gets too hot here. I desperately need to build up my cardio for our cruise in June. Last April's cruise was nice, but not as enjoyable as it would've been if I'd been in better walking shape.

Good luck! I need to do the same before our WDW trip in April. Our winter was brutal so I didn’t walk for months. The last 2 weeks finally warmed up & dried up, so I went a few times. But we’re back below freezing with rain & snow flurries again for the next week. :headache: My husband doesn’t mind the cold so he’s gone out much more than me. We’re staying at CR & BWI so I’ll be in better shape after the trip anyway.

Seriously. We went for 8 days for our honeymoon in April 2023 and the first 4 were awful for me with all of the walking. The last 4 were much more manageable 😂

This is awesome. I walked around the neighborhood last night for the first time this season. I'd been walking inside to Youtube videos during the winter. But it was fairly nice, albeit a bit cool 70 degrees. But I'm wanting to build up to maybe 3 miles a day. No reason other than to get healthy. We don't have any plans of vacation this year. It's simply to get healthy.

Good job!

Getting healthier is certainly my main goal as well, but if we go on this trip and I'm constantly lagging behind, I'll never forgive myself.

I had to walk while DW was at church because she doesn't like me doing it. But, I do agree the part about lagging behind or having to take breaks and it slowing down ther members of the party. We always say we're going to walk before a trip, but we never do. Then we're wore out and our feet our burning by the end of the first day.

She doesn’t like you to walk? if you are looking for a fun way to increase your steps, download the Pikmin app. I have flower planting competitions with buds across the country.

Not really. As soon as I stepped in the house tonight, DW said you stink something awful. Why do you do that to yourself? Now you have to waste more water and go shower. She'd rather I not do it because I smell bad when I come in and have to shower to use additional water. But I'm going to keep doing it.

How much does she think the water bill is going to go up over a few extra showers a week? I'd be surprised if it even bumps it up $10 for the month. She really needs to see a counselor for her insecurity and you probably need couples therapy so she can stop gaslighting you.
(I highly recommend therapy to everyone and anyone, both alone and as a couple at least a few times! Mental health and having a healthy relationship are SO IMPORTANT.)

Is it possible your wife is going through menopause? While I haven't reached that stage of life yet, I have heard that some symptoms can include a heightened sense of smell and could also explain why she seems so adverse to many things. If she is going through menopause, maybe it's time for her to talk with her doctor about it and see if they can do anything to help.

Menopause and peri menopause can create all sorts of "challenges" and unexpected issues - not just the classic hot flushes!

I developed overwhelming anxiety that just left me incapable of doing almost anything useful at times. And a complete lack of tolerance of things that should have been, at worst, mildly irritating (the car being left without much fuel, a mug not being washed up when I thought it should have been, someone not answering a phone call as quickly as I wanted).

But not a single hot flush.

I've already hit the peri-menopause stage (even though i'm only 36) and while I haven't had any anxiety like that luckily, I definitely just have a lack of motivation for literally everything. Could even border maybe a little bit of depression. I find myself getting irritated with things super easy, and like you said for things that it's not necessarily warranted for. I also find it more difficult to regulate my body temp sometimes. Some other symptoms that would be more TMI than what i've already shared. :rotfl2: But all of this comes in waves and is not super consistent.

Not all hot flashes are the typical ones though. I get extra hot when I get hot, which makes running and exercise super fun. I'm on HRT which when the levels are good, it helps, when it doesn't it sucks.

The brain fog is real though.

I disagree only because we need to normalize that this is something all women go through whether it's due to age or a hysterectomy. Research is seriously lacking and people think we shouldn't talk about it yet ed commercials can play on TV.

We all know females have monthly cycles, generally of course there's those with medical issues, but it shouldn't be so taboo.

When I first started struggling with sleep before I got on HRT I talked with my boss about it. But he's open to it, is married and slightly older than me so it's not like he's not aware of it.
