Howdy, folks!

This will be our first time renting a villa. We chose one in Indian Ridge, mainly because of its proximity to the parks (I'm told it's about 15 minutes from driveway to parking lot, give or take), size and cost. We'll be staying in a house on Indian Ridge Trail North.

We're less than a month away and I'm growing anxious and apprehensive. I know Indian Ridge is one of the older local developments. Can anyone tell me anything else?

Thanks very much!

The first time we rented a vacation home was in the neighboring community of Indian Ridge Oaks.

They are very nice communities located very close to Disney you will not be unhappy I am sure of the location.

I had never rented a home for any other vacation then for a beach stay and those were when we were very young adults. Boy have homes changed. It was great having the pool for all the cousins to play together.

It was one of our best vacations. I told my husband if we ever come into any $$$$$ this would be my dream. Lucky us we are now living our dream. It is now the best vacations we take twice a year with family and friends.

I truly think you will be very happy in your choice. Have a great time and enjoy the magic with your family. Those memories are priceless.

Here is a map that shows were both are located so you know I have a clue as to what I am talking about. LOL That dosen't happen often lately.

Wow, thanks for the responses!!!

In general, how is the area & upkeep? Are there any problems with sugar ants? How is the clubhouse area and communal pool/playground? How far away is the nearest Publix or supermarket? Is it really only 15 mins. to the parks?

Thanks so much!

It's a small community with ranch homes. Think NJ housing developement but w/out basements and the houses are in pastel colors and there are palm trees. Exactly the same. I have to laugh when people refer to them as villas because I would never call them that. I'm from Jersey too and we have ranches...not villas:lmao: a villa to me would be a condo or townhouse.

To be honest, we have our own pool so we have never even been over to the community one. The playground is nice, but it's getting hot here so no one really is over there much. We have an ice cream truck that goes through just about every night when dinner hits the table. There are lots of kids and we are on break so beware of bikes, skateboards, roller bladers, bouncing balls etc.

Not sure what a sugar ant is but it's Florida, you get all kinds of creepy crawlies. Extermination is a must here so most likely you won't have problems. Call the management company if you do.

The closest Publix is in Championsgate. It's about 3 1/2 miles away. It's nicer then the ones on 192. To get there from IRTN go out to Sand Hill Road, make a RIGHT. At the stop sign turn RIGHT onto Old Lake Wilson. Take that to the stop light. Turn RIGHT. Publix will be on your RIGHT a mile or so down the road.

Yes, WDW is just a few short minutes away. To get to MK, EPCOT or MGM go out to Sand Hill turn RIGHT, at the stop on Old Lake Wilson turn LEFT. At the light at 192 turn RIGHT. Be in RIGHT hand lane. Exit to WDW is the first exit.
To ge to AK follow directions to 192 but just AFTER you pass Westgate Vacation Villas make a LEFT(Morgan Williams). At the intersection make a LEFT(Funie Steed), at the stop make a RIGHT(Entry Point/Sherberth). Go through stop light and you are almost on WDW property. At the stop light AKL is to your LEFT and AK is to your right.

IR is just a regular family neighborhood

Hi, we are neighbors to MOM2of2 for 3 months and love Indian Ridge...Wonderful neighborhood with real people who live there, kids catching school buses, and pets on leashes and smiling faces.

Homes are all nicely spaced, not packed in and many pool areas provide some or full privacy. I love the door from the master bath right to the pool so you can hop in the shower without tracking throught the house.

Yes, homes are a little older and may not be outfitted to the 9's but I am sure you will find them homey and a fun place to stay. Almost all homes have gas pool heat which means, no matter what the temp, the pools stay warm. If there is a pool blanket, be sure to use it as it will keep the pool warm and save the owner a few bucks.

And.....this is the best location for access to Disney you can find...no hassles with 192, I-4 or Hwy 27....GOOD CHOICE!

Ted

We are also staying in the Indian Ridge community during our visit in AUgust. I'm excited, but nervous as this is our first time renting a home, but we are a family of 5 (2 being teenagers) and looking forward to not being on top of each other like in the hotels.
