Yesterday the newspaper had the headline "Independence leaving Stewart airport two stinking weeks before Regina's son was flying in for his sister's wedding". (That wasn't the actual wording, just my interpretation.) :teeth:

DH called Independence and got a full refund. We got DS flights on Delta, but we have to use LaGuardia. Much less convenient, but whaddya gonna do? :confused3

Just a heads up if any of you have Independence booked. They're cutting back. :sad1:

Independence Air will stop service in Louisville, Indianapolis, J-F-K International, Newburg New York, and Cleveland starting November 1.

Some people think they will stop flying completely before the end of the year.

And that's important for folks to keep in mind. Many folks suspect that this will be the first time since Braniff that an airline will go under and the ticket-holders will be left holding worthless tickets as a result.

Yeah, they're trying to keep from going under. I have three flights on them out of Dulles in the next two months. At least they're not going to pull out of Dulles unless they go down for good.

I've rebooked them all on Southwest now because I don't expect to get any money or any new flights out of these tickets. If IA doesn't go under by the time I have to leave I can cancel Southwest. Southwest would mean I have to use Baltimore, far less convenient than Dulles.

They will also pull out of Seattle and San Francisco at the end of November, but they will start service to LaGuardia this fall, and are expected to announce Miami and San Juan shortly.

Just let 'em keep flying until after November 13. Then I have to figure out what to do with all the Southwest credit.

I am hoping they will keep flying period... but till after the holidays would make me happy. I actually wrote an email to them expressing my concern about their solvency and my money. I got a response which, of course, was very positive. We will see what we see...

"We understand your concern about recent media reports discussing the financial health of our parent company, FLYi, Inc. with regards to your current reservation. Rest assured that in spite of recent analyst predictions, we are currently proceeding with reservations as usual. Your tickets are not in jeopardy.

Our operations are proceeding the same as they always have been, and we are continuing to confidently book customers for flights well into the foreseeable future. Thank you again for choosing Independence Air. "

I booked 2 tix from Dulles to Disney on Dec 10 for DH b-day and I really hope I don't regret it. I much prefer getting to Dulles than to BWI. I have flown I-Air twice this year and they were fine.
