Weighty Risks: While proof of a weight and breast-cancer link has been building in recent years, new research from the American Cancer Society offers the most convincing evidence so far: Women who had gained 20 to 30 pounds after high school were 40 percent more likely to get breast cancer than women who had kept the weight off. For those who had gained more than 70 pounds, the risk doubled. Nip small gains before they spiral.
