So we've been wanting to add-on and I found the perfect contract. A 100pt/Dec UY at AKV to add on to my current DecUY AKV. We've been looking for this kind of contract for a while.

I called The Timeshare Store and made an offer a little lower than the asking price. 10 minutes later, I get a phonecall from my broker telling me someone else called at the same time and offered full asking price.

BUT...I spoke with a woman on another board who tells me SHE made the offer on that contract and it was actually a lower per point price than what we offered. Only difference is we wanted the seller to cover closing costs. She said her broker asked if she wanted to raise her offer, but my guy never asked me. I would've paid more ppt.

:confused3 Does that seem odd to anyone else?

Why can't I find a 100pt DecUY at AKV???

Just needed to vent.

Cheers,
Josh

I dont know the current price you were paying... but 100 AKL points might be better of to buy direct from Disney!

If you were in the 83-86 range for the resale...

Disney is currently $98 per point...

With the resale you are probably paying 322 for closing costs (or more)...

You would get current years points that if you didnt need them you could rent them and it would offset any difference...

Just my 2 cents!

Hey my husband lived in Owensboro for several years!

Yes, that is odd and frustrating... but I can tell you that my broker told us that it is not a good idea to ask the seller to pay closing costs. He strongly advised against that. I am not sure why b/c I see alot of comments on these boards stating "seller paid closing costs". :confused3

If I were you I would contact the TTS (also http://www.dvcbyresale.com/ is another good one) and tell them specifically what contract you are looking for in terms of use year and number of points. Maybe they can keep an eye out for you to get you what you want.

Hang in there!

Would it be the end of the world to have 2 UY's. I have all the same and think thats easier, but many members have multiple UY's. Keep looking there are plenty of contracts in the sea. TTS is not the only seller of resale DVC contracts (sorry TTS guys and gals).

The new incentive just cut the AKV discount.

Was trying to stick with the same UY for the simplicity of managing things. We are planning to use the points together on bigger rooms/longer trips.

It is very frustrating. This was the first 100pt AKV Dec UY I've seen since Jan 15.

The difference between resale and DVC was about 8-900 $

Only other one I've found is stripped out until 2012. I didn't like that one either.

Sigh...I wish I could find one...we're so ready to buy!

Don't give up - check out other resale brokers! I agree with Pinocchio's Dad - there are other reputable brokers to be found!

If you added on through Disney... you can put the down payment or even the whole amount on a Disney Visa Card... you get 0% for six months and the rewards points.

We used **** ***** and Grandma Jaki at **********.com, 866-544-2919. I must have sent **** 1,000 emails. He answered everyone QUICK (within an hour, sometimes within minutes). They have been very helpful and great to work with!

Does that take into account the fact that buying direct from DVC means you don't have to reimburse DVC for 1st quarter m/fs (in other words, you pay pro rated amount for m/fs) for all of current use year points?

Also, if you have a cc card that offers additional value (like 1% cash back), and you are able to pay off the bill without incurring interest, then consider an additional 1% in the difference between resale and buying direct from DVC (because you can use cc card with DVC).

Best of luck with finding your resale, but we didn't have any luck going that route, as we were looking for a 60 point add on. We actively searched with several companies for over 6 months and nothing came up - we absolutely need the same June Use Year as I'm a teacher.

We added on directly with Disney as by the time you add in closing costs, plus we got last year's points (they were in our account within a few hours!), and so the difference between resale and DVC was so minimal. Remember, that difference is over the life of the contract, so $800.00 spread out over 47 years isn't a big deal at all.

Just something to think about - now I see you are looking to buy a bigger contract, and so my hubby and I did say we wished we would have actively searched for a resale when we intially purchased our AKV contract at 125 points, because we probably would have saved some money, but at the time, we didn't know enough about resale to feel comfortable with that.

Best of luck, Tiger :)

There is still that much of a difference even with factoring in the incentives, 2009 points, and not having to pay closing costs? If it is, I would say that you still might want to consider paying that additional amount to go through Disney just for your peace of mind so you can be done with it. Whatever you decide, hang in there and good luck! :goodvibes

We too were looking for the right add on contract resale for BLT 100 points Aug UY and we have not found any for the same UY (new porperty I know) but we did find one with an April UY and decided to go for it since it was 12.00 per point less then Disney. It had all 2010 points coming in April but that is it. With closing cost and waiting game (and webinar rates) I crunched the numbers and realized we were only saving about 250.00 and that is with a paying 102.00 pp vs. 110.00 (webinar special) but no closing cost thru Disney and we get 2009 points to boot which if renting is another 1000.00 so resale was actually more costly. We decided to contact Disney to see about the 100 points to get the bottom line, still waiting for our guide to call back. We have decided to pass on the resale since it has been over 2 weeks and seller still had not signed any paper work for deposit (which was another red flag for us)

Note we just bought SSR resale and saved 27.00 per point vs Disney so that was for sure the way to go! Lesson learned for us was to compare the 2 and if it is only 200.00 diffference to get same UY and points instantly no waiting it is worth it for us.

Hang in there ImagineerM!!! We made bids on 3 contracts only to lose them by a matter of minutes to another bidder on with TSS.

I added twitter to my iphone and followed TSS and another store (the one with ****)...I found that I was able to find out about new contracts several hours before the daily e-mail would come through with TSS.

I was able to bid on a contract faster and it was accepted before the daily e-mail update from TSS about new contracts was even posted!!

Good luck!!

Thank you all for the support and kind words!

Its been a roller coaster since January! I'll be fine, but it has been a frustrating couple of days.

Yesterday was a particularly frustrating day all around, and the whole experience with TSS simply broke my back.

TGIF!
