INCREDIBLES will be super in September!

Veronica- CONGRATULATIONS!!!! Great job on the PR! We need pics of your new hardware. So sad about the 5k medals, hopefully they will arrive in the mailbox asap.

As soon as I get all the photos from the various sources, I will post them up!

Megan-

I saw your pic on FB!!! You are in one of the pictures Running Skirts took at the DL half. If you are on FB, friend them and check it out. You're famous girl!!

and PS You were so rocking it!

Hello fellow Incredibles!

Just a short drop in -

Veronica - CONGRATULATIONS on your PR! Very well done. Patsy - awesome time! Congrats to you and your son! :goodvibes

I had a good race - much better than I thought. Although not near the great race times of you two ladies, I finished and I did it by strictly walking. Usually, I will run a little to make up some time. If I train right, I'll usually do W/R intervals. This time - strictly walking so I'm happy that I could finish and do it within the required time.

I was one of those that didn't get a medal for the 5K. I was VERY disappointed - not so much that I didn't get the medal but because this isn't the first time this sort of thing has happened in a Disney race. There were two years in a row that many people didn't get a half-marathon medal at WDW - and these were people that finished within the required time. You can get by with this one time, two times - NO. Three times - :sad2:

I heard that the delay for the 5K medals was due to the weather in the East coast (hurricane). I find that hard to believe. Those medals should have been ordered and in place long before this weekend. My heart goes out to everyone participating in a 5K for the first time and for those only doing the 5K. They should have been able to wear their medals for everyone to see. Veronica, I'm glad your daughter was able to get one from a kind stranger. It is a cute medal.

Beth - good luck with your Goofy training. It's not easy but it is a rewarding experience. Here's some :wizard: in advance to help guard against those little aches and pains you may get a long the way. :teeth:

Veronica, I was so worried there would be a horrid pic of me by the Running Skirts ladies. I saw her RIGHT after she took the pic, and I knew it wasn't going to be stellar. It's not bad though! At least I'm not walking at that point.

So I finished! 2:53:28 (though my engraved medal says I was 2 seconds slower - I guess they corrected everyone's finishing time overnight). No speed demon, by any means, but I finished under my own power, and thought it would probably take me around 3 hours and I was right. Two bathroom breaks too (I didn't need to go, but there was no line, so I felt like I should.) Got home super late last night, so I've not had the chance to download my photos yet.

My grandfather is doing great. He's now got a pacemaker as a precaution (he has always had a very slow heartrate, and now that he's 88, they want to be sure it doesn't get slower!).

Now, I'm just trying to figure out how to train for Wine & Dine in less than 4 weeks (rest is the plan right now) and I'm also staring at the Princess sign-up page. That Coast to Coast medal is really appealing...

Great races, everyone!

Megan - great time! And I think you look great in your running skirt pic;).

Congratulations Veronica, Megan, Patsy and Susie!!! You are all INCREDIBLE DL runners!!!!

Congrats Veronica on your new PR!!! How exciting. It just keeps getting better and better.

I got goosebumps when I read about all of your successful run/walks. You all must be so proud, and have such a wonderful feeling of accomplishment.

I would be so sad if I didn't get a medal for the princess next year. That's just not fair, especially for the kids doing the 5k.

Glad to hear how incredible everyone did. I'm back from vacation, and did some running on our maine trip, but last week, did tons of walking around wdw, and tomorrow will start running again. February will be here before I know it, and I'm so determined to do some serious training, and healthy eating and lose some weight.

Have an incredible night team!!!

Disney sure does make running addictive. During mile 6, I found myself wondering why I do this, but now I think I'm going to sign up for Princess (even though I've already got Wine & Dine in a few weeks). I want that Coast to Coast medal!

I downloaded my Garmin results last night and I was surprised how fast I was. As expected, I went out way too fast my first miles, which is probably why I struggled during mile 6. But then I picked it back up and was on pace through the rest of the race, even though I felt like I was walking a TON of it. I think that if I'm just smart about the start, I'll be fine for Wine and Dine. I hope! That medal looks awesome.

Hello teamies!
I have had a fun week but haven't been on my computer too much. I have missed you guys!

I had a good first official week of training so far. I did 3 slow Tuesday, 5 slow Wednesday and 7 medium/social today. Today's included the bridges which are an interesting challenge. I am supposed to do 8 Sunday but I think I am going to do 10 with a running buddy instead.
We are heading to the World tomorrow for one day since we got passes for the new Tinker Bell movie screening at DHS Saturday. The kids are super excited but I am not looking forward to squeezing 3 miles in before EMH that am. Yuck! Other than that I am pumped about a really fun day.

Talk at you all later!

Good morning Incredibles!

It is hard to believe that a mere week ago I was in California, watching DD and DH run the 5k. This week has been busy, with DD starting school and both DH and I back to work (which was crazy for both of us).

No running at all for me this week-I will start again on Tuesday. My coach called me and we discussed the plan for the next half, which is 4 weeks from tomorrow. I will follow the last 4 weeks of the plan, except take 1 mile off each of the long runs. I am confident that I can run close to 2:15 again for this next race. There are only 800 runners for the half, and I am probably middle of the pack. Imagine that, me in the middle!!

All my DL running Incredibles-awesome job! I wish I had gotten to meet more of you. But you all rocked it!

Patsy-I didn't get one of the rolling suitcases for $10, but we did get the jackets. They aren't bad, nice for the cooler weather we get here this time of year. I was just so jazzed that I had to buy the XS/S size!!!

Ladies, keep on being Incredible! I will try to get over here more often, we should be back into a regular routine this week.

I bought one of those jackets too and LOVE it! I wore it this morning to an early morning water polo game and it was perfect. I loved being able to get that XS/S size too! Good luck on your next run. I'm debating whether or not to sign up for Four Bridges Half Marathon held here in Sacramento. It is held on Halloween Day. I'm afraid if I don't sign up for something to run I'll get lazy....:rolleyes1 I seem to get that way in the fall.

This has been a busy week for us here...Water Polo is in full swing and now we are hitting the 2 day tournaments....that means the next few Friday & Saturdays will be all day events sitting at a pool. Which, for my diet, is BAD! I seem to munch on a lot of junk food in between games. I'm going to try and control that a little better this season.

Good luck to any of my Incredible teammates that are participating in the Wine & Dine....that is right around the corner.

I hope everyone is having an awesome weekend! :cool2:

Lauren - good to hear from you. Let us know the status on your leg!

Kathy - the Princess is calling your name. It will be here before you know it. I'd like to do that one sometime; it just comes at a bad time for me in 2011.

Megan - glad your grandfather is doing better. :goodvibes I missed your running skirt pic. I wonder if it's still on the running skirts site. And yes, these Disney races are addictive! :rolleyes1 ...especially when they offer a "special" medal or inaugural medal. I'm still in the process of deciding whether I'm going to the marathon weekend in Jan. I've been the last 4 years; it's time for me to skip this one. However, DH, Steve is thinking about doing the marathon for the "new" medal. I just can't get away! ;)

Beth - sounds like you are doing quite a bit of training! Hope you are enjoying your trip to the World! Just walking around in the parks will add quite a bit of mileage (and sore feet!) :teeth:

Veronica and Patsy - what jackets are you ladies referring to? Did you get them at the expo? I actually walked away empty handed on this trip....well, kind of. I did get a new spiebelt but that's all! My spending has gotten out of hand lately so I'm trying to be good for now....which is no fun! ;)

Have a great weekend!

Have a great weekend!

They had windbreakers that fold up into a zip pouch for $10 in the park. They are grey and light blue, and say Disney Parks on the back. The pouch it folds into makes a really great pocket in the back for carrying stuff. And they have side zip vents. A steal for $10. I just couldn't get the rolling suitcase, it would have cost me more to get it home than it did to buy it!

I did buy the I Did It ladies t-shirt at the expo. It was nice that at the DL Hotel they had marathon merchandise, not just at the expo. I really found the expo to be lacking in comparison to the WDW one. But hey, it means I spent less, which makes DH happy!

I'm back and...

I did it! I did it! I finished the DL Half and I have my beautiful, shiny medal to prove it!

Okay, so, I've actually been back for five days now, but between exhaustion and school and work, I haven't had much time to do anything but peek at the boards for the last few days. I thought I'd get caught up over the weekend, but soccer and playdates and, again, exhaustion, got in the way. I still have laundry to do from the trip and I haven't run since the half (eight days ago). I plan to run 3-4 miles tomorrow. I don't work on Tuesdays since my DD4 goes to a parent participation preschool on Tuesdays/Fridays. Tuesdays are my "day-off" from the participation preschool, so I'll take advantage and do a run while she's playing.

Know that I'm reading your posts and when things calm down in a few days, I'll be more of a responsive poster!!!

YAY Stephanie!!! I knew we hadn't heard from someone who did the DL!!

I ran for the first time since the DL half today. It was slow and dark (5:45 am is really dark now). But it felt good to get back out there.

My coach and I have formulated a new training plan for the next 4 weeks til my next half. Two runs during the week, two runs on the weekend. I am definately trying to not overtrain. Cause I am getting close to my burnout point. After this next half, I only have 2 5ks on my schedule. I am going to spend the winter cross training, doing weights and spinning.

Weight is up:sad2:, gotta get back into the diet. Or at least stop eating so much.

Keep on keeping on girls!

I hear that, Veronica. I've also taken steps to get off my anxiety meds (because I've made changes in my life that I think have helped), which I'm hoping will help with the weight loss. My sister went on the same med a few years back, and when she got off, she lost 20 lbs without changing her normal workout routine. I'd be happy with losing the 10 I gained.

Yay Stephanie! I know I keep picking up my medal and looking at it and smiling. It's my first race medal (I do have an Army Ten Miler finisher's coin though) and I have to figure out how I want to display my medals. What do you all do with them? I thought about hanging up a little rack in my bedroom. Might see if the roommate wants to put them in the living room. She's a big runner, so she's got WAY more medals than me (she wants to use them to decorate a Christmas tree) but it might be a fun way to display them. I'd hang it in my cube at work if I trusted my coworkers to not steal it. Actually, I only ever lose office supplies, so I'm sure they wouldn't, but I worked so hard to get that medal that I don't want to lose it!

Hoping to get in a run tonight. It's a crazy week for me, with choir rehearsals last night, and then recording sessions Wed-Fri evenings (we're recording a holiday "concert" for public radio) so my week is insane. I'm supposed to have Friday off work though (crossing my fingers I get to keep that) so I'd like to get in a run tonight and Friday sometime during the day. Gotta stay in shape for the next race!

Veronica and Megan, it sounds like you both have some good plans in place to keep up with your running. I came back with a vague sense of "I can't quit now." I did my first run since the half today. I only did two miles. It's better than nothing, but once I was officially cooled down, I was kicking myself for not having done more. Maybe I'll do a couple more when my DH gets home this evening and can take over the DDs. I need to sign up for a 5K or 10K to keep a goal in sight. My closest "for sure" runs that I know I want to do right now are a 4 mile run near my neighborhood in February, a half-marathon in March, and the next DL Half! I need to come up with something for mid- to late-October.

Races are what keep me running. Otherwise, I would just give up.

I skipped yesterday's run. I decided it was my only evening off and I was going to take it. Plus I needed to do a bunch of things around the house. I still have Friday off, so I can get in a 5 miler then. I probably still could have run, but I can't change anything, so no regrets. :goodvibes

Hello teamies:).
I had a great first two weeks of training so far. I loved hearing all about your sucesses in the DL half, it is so inspiring for the beginning of my journey:).
I have been having some issues with insomnia for awhile now and I think I may have found a solution. I started taking melatonin supplements last week and have been sleeping so much better. I am hoping that my running will improve too with better rest. Keeping my fingers crossed.
Hope you are all having an INCREDIBLE week and I will talk at you later;)

Exciting news! I'm a DVC member, and had a studio booked for the Princess half, just in case I decided to run it (I refuse to sign up until I have finished this race, just so I don't jinx myself) and after talking to my mom on the phone, I now have a points/cash reservation for a 2 bedroom and three people coming with me! My parents are joining me, which is always nice, since we live so far apart, as well as my younger sister, and my mom and sister definitely plan to run/walk the race! How exciting!

DVC thats so exciting. I am running the princess too.:woohoo:

Good News....Jeremy & I finished!! Even better news....Jeremy did AWESOME!!!
Great Job patsy. I bet you were so proud.:thumbsup2

I officially started my training for Goofy this weekend.
Now thats just goofy.:lmao: Good luck with the training...I say anyone who attempts this is incredible.

The half was fabulous, I set a new PR :
2:15:47

Great job veronica. Wow what a great PR.

So I finished! 2:53:28 (though my engraved medal says I was 2 seconds slower - I guess they corrected everyone's finishing time overnight).

Great job finishing the race. Dont worry about the time the point is you did it. Glad to hear grandpop is doing good too.

I did it! I did it! I finished the DL Half and I have my beautiful, shiny medal to prove it!

Great Job:thumbsup2

I just realized today that I havent seen posts on here in awhile....then I realized I never subscribed to the sept. thread.

Another big congrats to all of you who ran the DL half. Great Job....you all rock.:thumbsup2

My next race is a 5mile on 10-16. I am really looking forward to it since I have not done a race since june. I have kept up with my training and am running 3x a week. Usually two 3 mile runs during the week and a longer run 5-7 miles on the weekend. I will stick with this until november when I start my official training for the Princess half.

I registered and booked my trip for the princess last weekend. We are going Thur-Mon and staying at CBR. I am so excited. It's going to be me, my mom, and my aunt. Its my aunts first disney trip too. Im sad to leave my dh and kids behind but Its the one time in my life I am just going to do this for myself. I dont do much for myself but when I do I do it big.:lmao:

I hope all of you are doing incredible!
