Increasing Chances of Connecting Rooms?

We are going to POR in October and my mom might be coming along and would like her own room, but is nervous about it at the same time (first trip "alone" since my dad died at Xmas)... How could I increase my chances of getting a connecting room with her when I put in for my room request?

The only way I know of that they will "guarantee" you connecting rooms is if you will have children staying in the room on the 2nd reservation. Perhaps you could put your children on your mom's reservation rather than your own so that they will guarantee it?? Not sure though...and that of course is assuming you have children.

HTH's

No kids...

Maybe if I explain my circumstances they'd be sympathetic to our need for one?

Does it need to be connecting or can it be adjoining your room. I think if you asked for adjoining you might have a better chance. Since it is your mother they may not give it to her over a family that has small children for a connecting room.

I am booked fro POFQ for December, with a request for an adjoining room with my parents. When I initially booked the CM told me priority went to families needing additional rooms for children but they would do what they could. I called back to add another request (my mom wanted to be on first floor!), the CM told me he was going to label the adjoining request differently (something about being on the outside of the reservation rather than inside so the resort would see it right away) so we would be more likely to get it. Maybe just calling back and explaining your situation would get you somewhere because it seems like it depends on who you talk to. Gook luck!!

We stayed at 3 different resorts last Dec. and they gave us connecting rooms for my mother. We didn't have any problems.

We have travelled with my mother the last three years and got connecting rooms each trip. It is really great for the kids to have a little extra space (one can "visit" grandma if the other gets in his hair!).

There is no guarantee, but in my experience, if you put it first on your room ressie requests and limit other requests (our only other request each time has been "nonsmoking"), you will be likely to get it.

I don't think you should have too much trouble. It can't be guaranteed but as others have indicated, they try there best to accomodate. We have requested them several times and have always gotten them. I would however add her room to your reservation and make the request at that time. It might be easier to overlook if her reservation is separate from yours.
