Incongruities that make you chuckle...

So one of DH's co-workers bought a house in our subdivision. They are home-schooling, ultra-conservative born again Christians. No judgments, just what they are.

Here is the part that makes me chuckle...

They moved in 4 house from Rob Sherman. Anyone in the midwest will recognize the name. Sherman is the biggest PITA atheist, trouble maker I have ever met. His favorite thing in the world is to sue organizations/townships/counties because he doesn't like their "religion." You might know of him because he sued the Boy Scouts on behalf of his son because the word "God" is in their pledge. *Note, he is not a PITA because he is an atheist, it is because of his attitude. I worked with him on a committee and everything is about him.

I REALLY want to go to those block parties!

Sounds a lot lot like my marriage. DH's mother is a strict, fundamentalist, anti-driinking, Southern Baptist. My parents were self-proclaimed atheists who loved to drink and party and disliked anything to do with religion. Not to the extent of the Sherman guy, but still. It made for some fairly interesting family get-togethers.

should be interesting if they put up a nativity in the yard at christmas-we've had some lawsuits around here wherein athiests have argued that even though it's on private property they should'nt have to be subjected to viewing it (or their kids who ride the school bus should'nt have to)-they never win but they make it a pia for the homeowners.
