Hi there! This is my very first post here on the boards. We will be travelling to Orlando in Feb. and are thinking really seriously about DVC and buying. We were wondering if Disney offers any perks to doing a presentation like the other places do? Like we are staying at the Marriott and they offer free Seaworld passes if you go to theirs. Can anyone let me know the answer to this please?

Thanks!

We took the tour in early december, and received a voucher for 2 lunches/dinners at counter-types eateries in WDW..............And we are BUYING DVC as well....... :cool1: Bob

DVC has never offered incentives that I've seen. But they dont do the hard sell either - it's left very much to you to decide if it is for you. The one thing we did get from our tour was a lovely photo of us all but that was in 1994 so I don't know if they still do that :flower: :rotfl:

Howver, if you do decide to tour but not buy they do keep your details and you can always buy by phone after if you choose to, that's what we did - toured in 1994, bought in 1996!!

So how do you get there if your not going to wdw? We have no plans to visit the MK this time as it our first vacation without our son and we are looking forward o just relaxing! :cool1:

Well, I am sure if you call DVC and tell them where you are staying, they will pick you up (in their vans), and take you to Saratoga Springs for the tour and presentation. It took about 2 hours for us (we talk alot lol), but there was NO pressure at all. It was very enjoyable. Bob

You can call from your onsite resort room (or visit the kiosk in the lobby at checkin) to arrange a tour. DVC will provide transportation to/from all onsite resorts.

If you are staying offsite, you can call 1-800-800-9100 to arrange a tour, but will likely need to provide your own transportation to the sales center located at SSR.

As for incentives to take the tour, you will not find the same types of offers as other timeshares. You can expect an ice cream or cotton candy at the conclusion, coffee/tea/soft drinks and light snacks while in the welcome area, but often there will be no "perks" other than the low key/low pressure presentation and tour. Some have reported getting FastPasses to use in the parks or a dining voucher, but even those are not offered to everyone.

The tour is fun and very informative.

Enjoy!

We received fast passes for our family. 2 each. It wasn't your typical fast pass that would allow you to come back at a certain time but it would be good for use immediately.

To get the Fast passes talk to one of the DVC people at a podium. When they start talking about the tour be apprehencive about the time it will take away from the park. They then should offer you fast passes to make up for your tour time.

disney Does not offer the money or free stays like other time shares. They don't need to.

If you buy the tour will take longer do to the paper work but the Fast passess really do help you make back up the time you spent touring.

We are not going to the parks so it will just be time out of our vacation that we will be losing.

We received 2 food vouchers when we toured a couple of years ago. We stayed at SSR when we were there a couple of weeks ago in December and apparently the people who were in our room before use received an invitation for a tour and received $100 disney dollars. They paperwork was left on the desk. I have read on these boards of some other people also receiving the same thing.

We got 5 food vouchers when we went. We wanted to look into the DVC, nobody had to convince us. We were staying at the Contemporary for a "one time vacation of a lifetime", when we quickly knew that we could never go offsite again. We bought the day of the tour but cancelled when we got home. Because of a merger, I found out the day I returned that our team was breaking up. After I settled into a new position, we checked out resales and decided to do that. We got 210 points at OKW. Now mind you, we had never seen OKW. We did our research on the internet. It was just that out of all of the resorts, it seemed that OKW was more reasonable to us. Since then, not only have we had wonderful vacations, we are able to go more because we don't worry about accommodations. Also since then, DVC gave us a $100.00 discount on an annual pass, and also now we get a preview of the EE ride at AK. It just keeps getting better and better. We have never regretted our decision. Believe me, its worth the time to take the tour.

In september we were offered a choice of fast passes or meal vouchers, for DH, DS and myself. Since lines were pretty much nonexistant (except soarin..and that wasn't even bad) we took the meal vouchers.

We were offered on Dec 7 food vouchers or Fast passes. We took the food vouchers and had lunch at Pecos Bills on our last day there.

I'll be interested in the results of your tour - not re: the perks as much as what you thought of it. I know that we are all DVC cheerleaders here- but I can't think of a nicer 'timeshare' for my family. we are extraordinarily happy with our purchase.

Disney doesn't do a hard sell like your typical timeshare tour - you know, the sweaty guy that locks you in a room and pushes you around. They don't have to. They are a class act. Everyone I've ever talked to that took a guided tour said there was no pressure

Some friends of ours that bought in 2000 said that when they took the tour they got a free counter service lunch at Disney.

We bought over the phone. After we bought, we received a backpack and lithographs of our "new homes." We LOVE our DVC purchase(s). Notice I put a "s" on purchase. We have added on to our membership more than once.

We got the fast passes too. We didn't have to act apprehensive to get them; I think the girl who signed us up for the tour just liked us because we had been talking for about 20 minutes about our Disney engagement/wedding stories (we were on our honeymoon).

But we actually didn't end up using the fast passes because we took the tour on our last day, and we just weren't up for any rides after it. It says on them they're only good for 48 hours after your tour. I hung onto them in case that wasn't really true and we could use them for a future trip. Anyone know if we'll have luck with that?

My problem is that we are staying offsite and not going to any of the parks. Do you think I should just ask for perks? We are deciding between marriott timeshare and disney and Marriott offers free Sea World tickets. I would prefer Disney but I would like something for my time too. Meal vouchers won't do us any good because we are not going to the parks.

You should be abl to get
. . . fast pass booklets
. . . $100 in disney gift certificates
. . . lunch or dinner

Right but what I am saying is that we are NOT going to DW. Fastpass tickets and disney related things are not going to help me if we are not going there. Can the meal vouchers be used outside the parks? Like at the hotels?

Sorry if this sounds curt but are you really going to base the decision between Marriot and Disney on whether you get a perk at the viewing?
