I'm from NY and when i was at WDW i was told if i bought that day it would be $70 a point. I was also told that when i went home it would be $75 a point till 6/1/02. Does anyone know anything different?
Thanks
P.S. Are there any incentives if get someone else to join with you or at a later date?

The price has been $75. There was a special promotion going on that would either give you some free night stays or $5 off per point (the $70 you mention). Reports are that promotion ended for everyone March 30. So, the current price is $75 per point. An increase to $80 will happen this summer.

There are incentives if you are a member who refers someone to DVC who joins. However, many states forbid this type of deal and if you live in that state, you just get DVC's thanks. CT is one such state. ;)

The incentive that is currently being offered is the old Magical beginnings incentive. The price is $75 ppt but if you sell back your first years points to DVC you can get $5 off ppt. In this case you would not get any points until 2003. They haven't announced when this current incentive will end but as Pam said they have told us that the price will go up to $80 ppt on June 2nd.

By the way, my state, Michigan does not give a referral incentive either.

steppy21,

Welcome to the DIS!!!!!!:D
Ohio doesn't have any incentives for referrals either......:(

P.S. I see you are a NYFD........you guys are the" true heroes" of this country, not athletes.;)

We just added on. Actually it was on April 20th. They were offering $5 off the $75/point if you purchased before May 1st. As of June 1st the points go to $80/point. I don't think there is any incentive if two of you buy together. We have a December use year and so don't get our points until December. Doc had posted that we shouldn't have to start paying dues until Dec which I was pretty happy about but found out from our guide today that dues start on June 1st. Our only other option was to wait until December but it will be $80/point at that time so it is better to purchase now even with the dues costs.

ceejay- I just talked to our guide april 30 and she said no dues until Dec 1 for Dec use year. Told me same thing in Feb with initial BCV purchase. (just had to add a few more points before incentive ended!)

Um, Steppy, your first name wouldn't happen to be Kevin would it? :)

Send me a pm, look for the button on the bottom of my post.

We were at WDW a week ago yesterday, and that was the deal they told us too. We bought 150 points (so we are new DVC members) for the $70 a point.

I called yesterday because we haven't gotten the paperwork yet. The person told me they have been so busy all week because of the $5 incentive, but that it ended Wednesday of this week, so things are calming down. He said my paperwork would be in the mail that day (yesterday).

So we aren't official yet, but the $5 a point made a big difference in our decision (because we are on a budget) so we bought that day. When I found out that the price would go up to $80 a point after May, I felt like I got a really great deal! :p

I am still a bit nervous about all of this. I am not an 'impulse' buyer. But I simply LOVE Disney, and I have stayed at bargain places for all of my vacations, and I am getting to a place in my life where I want to be pampered a little more! AND I like having a seperate room from the kids!
