Incentives and new pricing winter/spring 2025

Ok, always looking for some positive mentoring. How did you get your wife to ‘yes’?
I've been indoctrinating slowly since we met and playing on the emotions 🤣🤣 she didn't know that Disney was this whole thing with cruises and vacation clubs and pretty much a lifestyle. She is an artist and went to school for animation and her favorite disney movie is ratatouille so it wasnt too hard. I made sure the first disney cruise we went on together had Remy booked. Have spoken to her a lot about Walt and his love for animation and how much they have in common. When I liked Riviera, I told her it was the perfect fit for her because it is a hotel for artists like her. Her initials are also RR so I told her it was a sign from above 🤣🤣

Yes, but because it is one of the first restricted resorts, once there are a large number of resale owners who can ONLY use their points at that resort, they may be more likely to book at the 11 month window than someone with unrestricted points that may just wait and see what is available at all of the resorts later.

The restricted resale points are at a higher risk of expiring unused if not used at 11 months, other points are not.

IMO, it is going to take a very long time for any level of resale points to be in the system to even potentially play a role.

And, I just don’t see it being an issue. Obviously, resale owners need to make sure they book at the 11 month window if they have no flexibility, but I think they know that.

Right now, with very few resale points in the mix, SV rooms go fast. But if resale points go unused because those owners didn’t book, that will offset some of the issues people are considered about.

But,I don’t see resale playing any role in getting PV rooms.

Yeah I'm not worried about it because being direct the worst that would happen is I book somewhere else, resale riv only will be screwed not us (when I buy it 🤣🤣)

And resale RIV owners will only be screwed if they choose not to book when they can…if they don’t, it’s there own fault.

If someone can’t do that, then resale RIV isn’t the right product! I used my resale RIV points always at 11 months!

It would make me nervous to be resale riv even if booking at 11 months because I heard that even if you book home resort at 11 months you may not get what you want at places like bcv, is this correct?

You can almost always get what you want at BCV at 11 months, but I don’t believe that is true for Riviera. BCV doesn’t have view categories, which may help with availability.

BCV is actually pretty easy to get at 11 months.

It’s just a small subset of rooms (BWV standard studios, AKL value, BLT standard, RIV standard studios and a few others at peak times) where you may struggle at 11 months.

I monitor things all the time and there has never been a time when someone was locked out of booking RIV, or any resort at 11 months.

Sure, you might not get the studio, or the cheaper view, but something is always there, and that is what we are guaranteed with a points based system…first come first serve only.

So, there will never be a resale RIV owner who will be shut out from booking a trip…they just won’t, unless they wait. .

Now, they may need to be more flexible with dates, room size, then those who can trade, but that is a far cry from some of the doom and gloom concerns.

Again, I have always gotten my studios, and always SV, outside of early Dec which I have had to to start with PV some of the time, but end up with SV via waitlist and stalking.

I do think that those buying need to understand…but, here is what none of us know…if there seems to be concerns, DVC can add an enhanced type of OTU points program that allows them to offer resale owners stuck at home resort to “trade points” for a fee, to access DVC unrestricted points for a trip.

I see, so at least you'll get something

Oh I always dismissed it because I thought there was a potential to not get anything at 11 months, but I was wrong. That would be cool if they offered something like that and then they can make their money too

I personally have never seen Preferred Studios unavailable at 11 months. It might happen once in a while, but it’s rare. 1BRs are always available.

The worst mistake you can make with Riviera is buying with the intention to only stay at Tower/Standard Studios.

Looks like that may be the case especially with Riviera. The problem that I have with it is that the resort rooms "studio" are a fairly good deal but increasingly difficult to book. Not sure if they are a little slow on declaring the rooms or if this will just be how it is when booking Riviera.

It is going to be that way because not only are they more cost effective, you get to see fireworks from many of them. I think 85% of the resort is declared at this point.

Except it’s still only beneficial for those who will travels full week…if you don’t, it does nothing.

It’s why we didn’t bother buying because we won’t do 7 nights Sunday to Sunday.

Yes, you can cancel but if you are doing that then it’s not getting you a benefit for a hard to get room if you don’t see yourself using it.

But, I agree that if one does and travels during a popular week, then it could be
I cant imagine staying for less than 7 nights will all of the other costs associated with traveling to WDW, such as airfare. I guess if you live locally or can drive in under 10 hours, you could just book a couple of days. Sandy, are doing split stays?

Yes, I do but my average trip is still only 3 to 4 nights. And I don’t see that ever changing.

I live in NY so flying all the time. IMO, I think the group of buyers for a fixed week will be smaller and not larger because if you do go during a busy time you are stuck with Sun to Sun if the purpose of buying is to not worry about competing.

So, I get someone buying it if they think they might use it at some point…I don’t get buying it for a week you never intend to go or use, for the off chance it might be worth more down the line.

Which is why we opted out…7 night stays in one place isn’t our thing, and we tend to travel based off airfare costs and Sunday is not always cheaper.

Yeah I wasn't a fan of the tower studios either way. When I saw them it reminded me of an office 🤣

Ok I am wondering this as well, I have heard that the studio rooms have an even better view than preferred. Do you find this to be true and if so why are the others more expensive?

Also can anyone answer if any of the rooms have views of the skyliner and/or a good view of the epcot fireworks or possibly even magic kingdom or other things? What do you find to be the best views? We did tour the model and I thought the view we saw wasn't all that great

The resort views look over the parking area, but just beyond that is Epcot. So a lot of those rooms have good views of the fireworks at night. The preferred views will look out the front of the resort towards the skyline and water.
I still like the preferred view better, but the Riviera resort view beats the resort view at a lot of other resorts.

Yes, the resort view studios have a better view if you define that as fireworks. But, the bulk of the view is the parking lot so most of the day, it is not great.

While the PV rooms do not get the fireworks views....well, not sure if some do....they have a much better view throughout the day....its the pool, skyliner, etc.

Personally, I think the PV rooms have what I consider a much better view, especially if we are going to be haning out a lot at the resort...but we do SV because most of the time, I am in a 1 bedroom and no need to pay more....views aren't a big deal to us so I save points where I can.
