Incentive Question

We took the DVC tour during our visit during Easter vacation. Called back yesterday to say "yes" and were told couldn't get incentive because we didn't sign when we were there. Is this right?

Don't know why they told you that- because you can buy without going there- unless you live in a state where DVC sales are prohibited. Also they ususally give you 30 days after tour and its been less than that. Maybe they are referring to a special interest rate, but the $5 off incentive is still in place until April 30.

Someone posted this before so I asked my guide last time I talked with him and he did say for this particular incentive that you only had 5 or 7 days (I don't remember which one for sure) after you take the tour on site to get the incentive. It really stinks because this is not the same as if you talked on the phone. You still have 30 days for the VIP financing, but not for the incentive. If I were you, I would argue that this was not explained to you when you took the tour! If you have to, ask for a supervisor! Go straight to the top if you need to.

Wow Terry- I had no idea! So you are at a disadvantage if you tour and don't decide- I can't imagine why they would do that! DVC is usually so low pressure. If you call and ask about it, without going onsite don't you have as long as the incentive is available- ie April 30? You got incentive when you decided initial purchase was not enough and did an add on- whats the diff for new purchaser to decide they want to buy? I can see the interest rate being higher but no incentive stinks!

I agree that it stinks and what is the difference if you talk to them on the phone and then decide two weeks later or if you talk to them in person and then decide, I am not sure. The guides are supose to tell people that the incentive is only good for the next 5 or 7 days (I can't remember which one). So my advice to anyone reading these boards would be take the tour on your first day of vacation and if you don't decide then, it still gives you the next couple days of your vacation to think about it and then go back. My guide did tell me that if he gets a chance to talk to people on the phone before coming down he clearly tells them about this so that they know before they coming that they will have to make this decision while they are there or loose the incentive or just don't take the tour without having all the facts and being almost ready. Unfortunatly, everyone doesn't have the benefit of knowing this ahead of time. I agree Karen, I was lucky, not only did I get the incentive the second time, but since I was within 30 days of my original purchase I was able to get the good finance rate.

Sarasal- Unless your fixed on staying at BCV, why not check out resales? The price is cheaper p/pt, and you can get some very good deals out there. (some have banked pts)

I would also check back with your guide and let them know that if you can't get the incentive, your going to buy resale, and that means NO commision for him/her!

Well, *IF* Beach Club is where you'd like to have your home resort, then of course you can't get that via resale - I would *defiinitely* call back and talk to as many supervisors as you need to until they agree to give you this incentive. If Joe Blow can call up on the phone and get it, you should too. Don't give up!!! :D

Have you thought about where you'd most like to have your home resort? It really is important to choose the resort where you'd like to stay the most.

I know that financially OKW would be the practical choice based on resale cost and yearly fee. However, we were attracted to BC because of proximity to Epcot and MGM, and SAB. Now thinking maybe a resale at Boardwalk would be a good compromise. Plus, with standard view, less points-important because we have children in a private school that frowns (to put it mildly) on taking the children out of school for vacations.

Sarasal- Sorry about that incentive glitch- can you call a different guide and play dumb? I don't know if they have a system to check who's done the tour, but if you used one spouse's name, maybe you could try using the other name? Did you check with a supervisor? Re: resales, besides the site sponsor, Jaki @atimeshare.com was very helpful with our BWV resale. I agree about the location- if that's important to you than you should buy there.
