Sounds good! I'll be wearing a light blue "princess skirt" from runningskirts.com Not sure what I'm wearing as a top yet..that's a work in progressI'll be the one running for 3 minutes then walking for 2min
BTW what's a "pace group?"
So excited for the race![]()
Need a little advice..
The last few runs I have been struggling - badly!! I used to be able to do 60 min of solid running / jogging.. My goal was to run / jog the first 6 miles and do a walk / run combo after that.
Well lately I can hardly go a mile without gasping for air. I mean I have to stop and walk to catch my breath because I can't hold a conversation. I am still going about 3.4 miles in 35 minutes so I am still in pace but obviously I am concerned because I have to go 4x that far.
I wanted to get 6 miles done on Wednesday before I leave (did 3.4 today) but I'm just not sure now.
Any advice on why all of a sudden I can't seem to go 2 miles without walking when not even 2 weeks ago I could go 6??

I have a question - is there really a POINT to the trash bag/poncho, once we're running, or should I discard it in the corral, if it's raining?
Already bought a second set of emergency ponchos to bring with in case it's raining while we wait. Also am bringing an old long sleeve shirt to wear over my running tank. Figure I can wear it to stay warm pre-race and then toss it.
Is the weather different?
It could just be a weird mental block. I get those, and have to distract myself out of them.
You also might want to check if you're coming down with something. I was having some breathing issues running last week, and it turns out I have an upper respiratory infection, which I'm taking medication for right now.

It's probably a combo of everything hitting me all at once - or at least I hope. Both my boys have colds (stuffy / runny noses and sneezing) and the mental block too. The weather has become a little cooler but I notice I am getting hotter more quickly than in the past. I'm really hoping that at the race I'll be able to push through it...
So should I not do anything the rest of the week until Friday?
For the half this past January, I kept my rain pancho on the whole time. Of course, the temp was around the freezing mark so that made a difference.
The only thing I worry about is my feet getting wet. I get blisters very easily and with wet shoes, it's a given I'll get them. I've tried putting duct tape over the mesh on my shoes but it doesn't stick in wet weather.
Any suggestions on how I can keep my feet somewhat dry should it rain? I haven't had too much experience running/walking in the rain and the few times I did, I got blisters.![]()
A bottle of water – hydration is the most critical thing the few days before the race.
Great advice! Thanks! Where exactly on the front do you wear the bib?
Anyone else getting nervous about the weather?![]()
I think the weather would have to be really, really, really awful for them to cancel. Thousands of people have spent thousands of dollars and weeks if not months of training for this event. The only way they're going to cancel is to keep us safe.
Remember, 20-30% chance of rain = 70-80% chance of dry
am I the crazy one..
I checked Yahoo weather and I don't see rain in the forecast for Saturday or Sunday.

To be honest, I am *way* more concerned about lovebugs than rain.
